Yes, the day at a spa is a GREAT idea.

Also, freezer meals.

But another thing which she would appreciate would be if you offer to do some ironing, or vacuuming and dusting or something for her.

My freind had twins a few years ago and she chose to bottle feed. Every time a visitor arrived, all they wanted to do was sit and feed one of the babies. She told me afterwards that I was the only person who walked into her house and offered to wash-up and iron while she sat and fed HER babies. Even her own mother only wanted to feed the babies.

So, yes, doing the domestic chores would be a good one to offer. Maybe you could make some kind of gift certificate saying that you will do the chores.

You mentioned that she is in hospital now - I hope she's doing ok

Billysmum is right - I don't have children yet, but I've often heard that the best way to help a new mom is to help with all of the other work so she can focus on taking care of the baby (or babies).

How thoughtful of you! The massage and spa pampering is a really good idea, but when the babies get here, she may be so busy that she might not have time to collect on it for a while. One thing I got was a nice lingerie set for ME to wear after the babies came - I loved it. Something just for me, that I could use right away and it wasn't a dowdy old maternity nightie. Also, I think another good idea would be a house cleaning/maid service because, believe me, the house will get the least attention after the babies come.

Geesh, I leave for a few hours and look at all of you!!! Thanks for the ideas!

Thanks Billysmom, she is ok, she has (and I have no idea how to spell this one and too tired to look it up) pre-eclampsyia? So she has a test tomorrow to see if the babies are ready and they will probably induce. I was actually just hanging out with her all afternoon trying to get her to laugh those kids out!

A gift certificate to a day spay
  Sorry I had to laugh!! We all have dogs on the brain.

Looks like the spa is taking this board by storm!! (who doesnt love a good massage!)

When my friend turned 40 I planned a special day just for her. She had a facial, manicure and pedicure. That evening, I took her to a dinner show. It was a great success...just my 2 cents

My friend is an only child and these are her first children. Her mother is about to explode waiting for her grandchildren, so I am thankful that there are two because otherwise I doubt I'd even get to hold the baby if there was just one let alone babysit!!!

When my sister had twins I went to her house frequently and helped with the house work and meals.
It freed her up to spend time with the babies, but I did get to feed , cuddle and often bath them which was great! :)
When youve had a baby or babies, you are tired and stressed and houswork and meals are just another drag you have to find the energy and motivation to do.

When I had twins my sister gave me a certificate to get a massage. I loved it! And as Debbie said, help with the babies and around the house would be great because when i had them all i wanted was rest!

I bet she'll love the gift no matter what
