How severe is the mange?? How many spots are there?? Mitaban was taken off the market quite a few years ago. I had a dog with demodex about twenty years ago. I was given mitaban and after reading the label and the vets warnings, I was afraid to use it. I tossed it in the trash. My dog had mange spots on her face, chest and front legs which I cleared with a good diet and Goodwinol Ointment which is much less toxic than mitaban. I too would go with the ivermectin (which was not around for dogs twenty years ago), if the mange is widespread. It is probably not so much as the second outbreak at seven months, but has never completely cleared. Even the stress of a growing pup can bring on outbreaks.
Purina puppy is not a good diet. There are lots of very good foods to use. I feed my guys one meal of raw and one kibble meal of Chicken Soup for Dog Lovers. I would also use a product like Probiotic to help the digestion and absorbtion of food.
