It's thirteen weeks tomorrow that we lost Stella. At times I still weep for the untimely demise of our pretty 16 month old flashy fawn baby. When Cinda our older Boxer does something that reminds me of Stella, I can't help but go to the place in my thoughts where I can see how Stella would have done the same thing, and I have to smile and tell Cinda so. I enjoyed watching the two together playing, sleeping nose to tail or bounding over the fields chasing each other. Stella was the pushy one, in our faces for affection, (she was a rescued dog) watching us for any sign we were about to go out and then into the car before we could stop her. She hadn't been trained and I was in the process of doing so when she died. She hadn't been vaccinated, spayed, registered, de-flead or fed properly either. One vice she had was running away. Having Cinda as playmate stopped a lot of that, but when she realised we were about to go home after a run, she'd take off into the neighbouring farmland and demand that their livestock play with her. She didn't chase the cattlebeasts, she went head to head with them in an effort to play properly. Of course they were curious and advanced en masse and she deftly avoided all hooves and lowered heads with horns. When she expressed a desire to play with the sheep and lambs we passed on walks I realised we had a big problem and she could be shot for doing something like chasing them. Never would I allow her off her harness around these animals, but down on the beach she and Cinda ran free and loved it. We were blessed to have known her for such a short time (3 months) to be loved by her(very affectionate) and she was just beginning to settle down. I am still looking for another playmate to help Cinda get over her loss as well as ours. A young man would do the trick, and another fawn would be lovely. I sometimes look at Cinda and think she may not have much time left so I want a Boxer baby before she goes. She is seven this December. Thanks, Stella for being such a beautiful addition to our family. We loved you dearly.
