ANOTHER UPDATE!!!!!

I can't believe I am going to say this but I just found a FLEA on Cami.
One single tiny little flea that I chased down on her neck and caught. I then grabbed a glass and put some Dawn soap in it and put it in the glass. He sunk to the bottom and I just watched in amazement. Once he was dead I then inspected the heck out of her. No flea dirt nor anymore fleas. While I know that the possibility of her only having one flea is not in our favor it might just be the reason for her diarrhea.
Perhaps she ingested a flea and has tapeworms?? I have not seen any evidence of worms and I have watched her poo every single time over the past 10 days. I have also inspected the poo, collected the poo and cleaned up same said poo.
I don't wish her to have fleas however *if* this is the reason for her diarrhea I will take fleas and their eviction from her and my home far easier than if something were to be seriously wrong with her.
It's just past 12:30 AM and I am contemplating waking hubby and starting in on the house, bathing her and applying Frontline (if I have any). She doesn't get treatments due to her cancer but will have to at this point. Goodness! I just thought about the cat. She will also have to be treated!
Getting some de-wormer tomorrow morning!!

Pesky fleas! That gives me an idea for mine, at least. I'll have to see if I can find any of those little critters on them. Bugs in general have been bad in my area this year, way worse than previous years.

Here's hoping for Cami (and you!) that this will subside quickly.

THUMP!! THUMP!!

Did anyone hear that? That was the sound of me hitting my head up against the wall.

I spent 10+ hours scouring my home yesterday. I washed anything and everything that could be washed in the hottest water possible (much to DH's dismay as I shrank his work pants!). Used Borax on all my carpeting. Vacuumed vacuumed and then vacuumed some more. I was so friggin sore I could barely move. I should not have maneuvered so many heavy pieces of furniture but I was nearly manic in my attempt to rid this house of any fleas. I have yet to see any fleas except for the one I found on Cami the night before. And no I do not have any regrets that I took his life!!

Applied Frontline Plus to Cami and Advantage to my cat who I must say was deeply offended and no longer worships me.
Picked up a de-wormer for Cami (Drontal Plus) and gave that to her after dinner last night. That was around 6:30pm and soon after she was sicker than sick and not acting herself. Drinking TONS of water and doing this really odd licking thing. She wouldn't STOP licking her paws and she was dripping water from her mouth like she was a leaky faucet. Finally around 11:30pm the vomiting started. After puking up her entire dinner (meds too I assume) she seemed to feel better for a short while. Drank lots more water and then puked that up too and then went poo (puddle again). Finally settled down enough to rest on and off for a few hours. She ate breakfast this AM and is sleeping again but no longer dripping, drinking obsessively or vomiting. No poo this morning yet.

I have no clue what to do for her at this point. If she does have tapeworms from ingesting a flea which might have caused her diarrhea we won't know since I don't think the meds had enough time to do much (5 hours). Guess I will call the vets office or just wait for a poo which they want another sample of and talk to them when I get it there.

Point blank I asked the vet if there might be any side effects and was told NO....NONE.
I should have known as Cami always reacts to stuff she shouldn't or reacts different than is expected.

I just want my normal pooping dog back for her sake.
I am praying and will continue to pray. God is answering my prayers as I specifically asked that she start to feel better I just didn't know he was going to make her sicker before she got better. I'll have to ask him about that or be a little more specific in my requests! :D

Susi I hate that Cami is feeling aweful. I sure do hope it gets better soon. I know when Leah was wormed for whip worm she had the diarrhea with in an hour and half and was puking by 5 hours. This happend both times. My vet told me most medications are in the system with 90 minutes. It must have worked because all Leah needed was the two doses and the whip worm was gone.

Wishing Cami well :)

I hope Cami is feeling better. Was it Drontal that you gave her for the tapeworm. I recall when I gave it to Markus once, the instructions said that vomiting was very common and would not prevent the pill from being effective.

The de-wormer was Drontal Plus (kills all types of worms and we were shooting for the tapeworms).
Cami has had a belly ache on and off since yesterday. Wanting to go outside and eat grass a lot. Drinking more water than normal but not as much as she had been a few nights ago.
No vomiting with this nausea and she is fine for a bit when she comes inside after eating grass.
That part in itself doesn't bother me so much as she has always battled against the typical sensitive Boxer upset belly on occasion thing.
But factor in the increased water consumption and the two weeks of diarrhea and I am getting more worried than I have been.
All that being said she went poo this morning at a normal time. For the past 2 weeks I have not had a clue when she needed to go which has sort of put life on hold.
The weird orange coloring is gone and it is nearly back to normal color. I took a sample of that into the vets office again this morning to have them look for some sort of bacteria (can't recall the name) but it is supposed to be there and they will be checking to see if there is just an overabundance. If so we can treat with an antibiotic and it could certainly be the cause of the diarrhea.
She actually went poo again just a while ago (not normal to go so soon after her first morning poo) BUT.....this was the first stool produced that had a little thickness to it. Not normal by any means but headed in the right direction.
UGG! Just glanced over at her and she either just finished drinking again (which I didn't hear) or is hyper salivating again. DRIP DRIP!!
She isn't loosing enough stool to be dehydrated. I am going to ask the vet about having her blood tested. I fear kidney or diabetes issues. My imagination is running wild with too many what-ifs type scenarios.
She needs her post pill thyroid test done anyway so perhaps I can kill two birds with one stone.
Now a toy is squeaking.....guess she feels good enough to play!

Just read your thread...so sorry to hear about the poo problem, poor Cami! But I wanted to add that every time I put Frontline Plus on Petey he does that weirdo licking thing and drinks tons and tons of water, and I think I know why. I accidentally got some on my hand one time and immediately got a horrid taste in my mouth, like within 10 minutes, like a metallic garlicky taste. I have kinda thought that may be the culprit with his slobbing and licking and sometimes yakking after being treated. It goes away with him after a little while, but if it does them the way it did me I can see why they get sick.
Just something to consider. I may be crazy but it has happened every time with us.

I'm exhausted just reading your posts on Cami! I feel so bad for you and her both. :(
The flea thing reminds me of when I found fleas on my indoor cat about a year and a half ago. I had just brushed her three days before and they weren't there. It was about 11:30 at night and I noticed her scratching. I started examining her and found fleas and flea dirt. Not much, just enough to freak me out! I immediately ran to Walmart and got stuff for the carpet, flea treatment for kittens (she was old so I wanted something mild) and soap to wash her. I was up until 3:00 am trying to take care of it. I just couldn't sleep knowing I had fleas somewhere in my house! They dogs didn't have any so I'm guessing one caught a ride on them and then found her (she had really long hair). I feel your pain.

I am NOT going to say that this morning Cami made the first poo with some shape to it in over two weeks. *IF* I did put it out into the universe I fear it might not have happened or will not happen again! So I just won't say anything! noideaicon

Vet said that perhaps she is drinking more since the furnace is turned on and the house is a bit more dry inside. Sounds good in theory however I don't believe it for a minute!
Still monitoring her and will possibly be having some blood work done this week to check kidney function as well as her glucose in the hopes that all is well with both and this is just a "thing".

Waiting on another poo. foolicon
