We made progress but only to a certain point. While I am happy for the move in the right direction we are not out of the woods just yet.
Started the meds at 1pm on Friday and she had another bout with diarrhea around 3pm. She then made it an entire 27 hours without going poo at all. It was quite soft and ended up with a puddle at the end but it wasn't shooting out of her. (sorry for the visual!).
Vet said that there shouldn't be any diarrhea after 24 hours on the meds and that I shouldn't be surprised if she didn't go poo at all for 2-3 days.
Yesterday and day 3 of the med she went poo again. Another puddle.
Nothing today.
I wasn't expecting miracles but I can't wait to see "normal" and hope that it happens very soon.
Her little bum is a bit red but she doesn't seem to be bothered by it.
Energy level may be a little down but she is still eating/drinking normally and playful when she wants to be.
I hope this is just a one time thing and nothing more serious. Only time will tell and the meds will be completed by Weds. She is going a little stir crazy since her walks have been with held except for a short jaunt yesterday.
Firstly, I don't want to take any chances of spreading this to other dogs and there isn't any way at all to pick up after her if she needed to go while on a walk.
Will probably get her out later this evening after a poo if she makes one in the yard!

**UPDATE**

Completed first round of meds yesterday (5 days). Took in stool sample for testing. Fecal came back negative this morning.
Took home another 7 full days of meds just in case it did come back with something and will continue to administer in the hopes that the fecal missed something. It's a long shot but not out of the realm of possibility.

I'm scared.

What if her cancer has spread and this is just the first symptom of something bad? Is it colitis, pancreatitis, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, etc...? What will she have to go through to get a diagnosis?

I decided yesterday to take her off of her food AGAIN and replace meals with rice, chicken and eggs. I have a sample of her food ready to be shipped off to the manufacturer for testing. I don't know how long it will take. In the mean time she is going to have about 2 days of the new diet (which she loves, BTW) and I am heading to the store and will be getting something else. Possibly Orijen since it is grain free and low carbs (for her cancer).

Please keep Cami in your thoughts while we try to figure out what is causing this.

I hope she keeps improving with the rice, chicken, and eggs diet. Have you tried adding pumpkin? Thats helped Johann a lot in the past.

Keep us posted. I'm sure she'll turn the corner in no time and be back to her usual self.

Try to take a deep breath and try to limit your "what if" thinking. I know it is hard and you're stressed. But if Cami is like my dogs, she'll feed off your stress.

I know when I tried to change my dogs to a grain free food it caused the worst diarrhea I had ever seen, and it took probably two weeks to get them back to something resembling normal. I have now added fish oil and vitamin E for Thor's arthritis. His stools have gotten a little softer, but nothing to be concerned about. I'm going to try to get him grain free in about 2 weeks, with another brand. If I have the same results as the first time, I figure I find something with reduced grains and let him adjust to that for a few months then step down to the grain free. I know grain free would be optimum, but I don't want to stress my dogs system to get there.

Good luck and we're sending some healing ((vibes)) Cami's way!

Gosh, you're just like me -- worry, worry, worry... assume the worst. These babies can make us crazy sometimes... we just love 'em too much.

Poor Cami. At least she's still in good spirits. Hope it turns out to be nothing serious and that she gets better soon. Sending her some healing ((((vibes)))) !

Susi, I'm at a loss. I wish I had some words of wisdom. The best we can do is to pray for you guys. Please keep us posted. BTW how about some pumpkin to supplement the flagyl?

Dare I say this and put a jinx on something but......

Cami made a semi-formed poo today. We are not out of the woods just yet but it is certainly a step in the right direction. She is back on her regular food but we headed out late last night to locate a new bag with a different production number and sell by date.
The testing of her other bag will take about 3 weeks. I really think there was something wrong with it.

I hope that things keep looking up for Cami. A little good news is better than no good news at all.

Big boxer hugs to you all and continued get welll vibes coming your way.
