Just want to get everyone input and experience between male and female boxers. I have a 2 year old fawn female, Izzy, that is super sweet and a perfect girl, but not too cuddly. I also have a 8 month old brindle boy, Gus, who is way too cuddly. He tries to cuddle so close to me that most of the time he just lays on top of me. He follows me everywhere. Izzy is very interested in what I am doing, but she isn't right under my feet like Gus. Gus is still in a crate at night, but sometimes he does get to sleep on my bed at night, and I can't even move him. He lays right against me or on top of my legs and if I try to move him, it's impossible. Izzy sleeps in my bed everynight and sometimes will just use my legs as a pillow for her cute head. She never really lays against me and never has. Gus also has A LOT of energy and very very active, while Izzy is active, but much more laid back and she has been such a puppy. People couldn't believe what a laid back puppy she was. Was I just lucky with her??
What does everyone else's boy and girls do??? Anyone else notice any differences in male and female boxers? I have always heard, that in general, male pets are more affectionate.
Just curious.

Think it depends on the dog. My boy is very affectionate with everyone. My girl now likes to "play " with people but is not necessarily affectionate. And like you say, while my boy has his head in my lap my girl will actually move away to find a place to sleep. But my last sweet girl could not be close enough to me and was my shadow. But she was timid as a pup and we worked on that a lot so I think her attachment to me was different-I think like in the Wizrd of Oz i was her "courage" so she felt better being "glued to me :) Whatever the reason she was very different, at least in my experience, from the typical boxer girl. When I lost her it was doubly heart breaking because I did not have my little buddy next to me anymore. I love all my dogs but that little girl was something else God rest her sweet soul angelicon

My angelicon Blizzy was THE most affectionate and loving dog ever! I presently have a male and female (both are a few months from turning 2) who are just as affectionate as the other.

I guess, I can't really answer your question with a male or female answer. I think it just depends on the dog. Thankfully, I've been blessed with doggies who love to be loved and love back.

My 8-month old boy sounds just like yours. He usually sleeps on a dog bed beside me at night. Last night I woke up thinking "mmm, it is so nice to have Riker snuggled up so close" It took me a while to realize that he had snuck into the bed and was sleeping on top of me!! He also follows me around and leans on me whenever I stop moving, just on the off chance that I might pet him! I have never met a dog who loves people as much as him.

He is such a sneaky cuddly little monster. One thing I will note is that it took him a long time to get this cuddly. He was a very independent young puppy and then one day a switch flipped and he got super needy. I like him this way though, even if he is always under my feet. However, I have no female to compare him to!

My Izzy is affectionate, she LOVES everyone she meets and thinks they are her best friend, she just doesn't follow me so closely like Gus, or have to sleep so close to me. If we go to the pet store, they both think everyone is there to see them... same is true at the park or wherever they go. I am working on Gus right now because he is TOOOOO friendly with other people... he jumps all over them while wiggling and licking. I had a friend come over the other day who is very petitie and I thought he would knock her over. Izzy luckily just wiggles very excitedly at people and licks them. I want her to stop the licking, but not sure how to do that. The are both WAY TOO friendly dogs, Gus just likes to snuggle more and be right under my feet. He also does the leaning things too!!! I thought it was a dominance thing at first, but I think he just wants me to know he is there so he can get pet! They both also come up behind me sometimes and nudge me with their smooshy face, I guess just letting me know they are still there, hahaa.
They are so silly.

Both my boys are so affectionate (Zebedee especially) but Lola isn't. She rarely comes for a cuddle and if you go sit with her to cuddle her sometimes she'll even get up and move :(

The only time Roscoe cuddles is when he wants something from you or if it is the middle of the night. Other than that, he is very independant and doesnt cuddle at all. Blayne, our female, is the most cuddly affectionate dog ever. She wants to be with you everywhere you go and rarely goes off by herself. I think she may have some confidence issues which is why she always wants to be with and by us, but it is so hard to not to want to cuddle and snuggle with her.

My Punchie (female) is very cuddly and lovable. She loves to snuggle with me in the bed, and we always cuddle on the couch. She's very affectionate and friendly. I have no male to compare her to, but I would say it varies with each individual dog, rather than male vs. females.

Luka is my white boy, he is very affectionate but quite shy about it, he loves cuddles. Ruby is a big softie, she has to practically lay on me, if I'm seated she's there with her head on my lap, they are equally affectionate it's just Luka is quite a shy boy :)

We have the same situation with our two: our female, Abbi, was/is just so-so affectionate. She'd lay with us, but not really cuddling. Now Hayden is the complete opposite! It's like he can't get comfortable unless he's squished so close to us. He loves to give hugs and is completely content laying like a baby in my arms, whereas Abbi lays on the other side of the couch. Just close enough to touch and be touched, but not cuddling. He may grow out of it, but I'm hoping that he doesn't. lovicon
