Male vs. Female Boxers

I would have to say each dog is different regardless of male/female. I have an male and a female. My female has always been more laid back, more patient, and easier to train. My male is very loving and so is my female. My male seems to be too busy to listen. He does want to lay on top of somebody if he is sleeping. My female was the same way when she was his age and now that she is older she prefers to go off by herself to sleep. My husband had a male boxer for 13 years that acted very much like our female we have now. He can't understand why Boss doesn't act like his boxer did, and I told him all dogs are different.

...

We got our first boxer and went with a girl, because the dog we already have is a terrible "marker" (a miniature pinscher) and were worried another boy would bring that out even more! So far, no marking out of the minpin, and the girl's great SO FAR! haha, but she definitely for some reason is NOT a cuddler. She'll sleep with me, but won't let me SPOOOOON! her! haha She'll just lay down at the end or between me & the boyfriend. I'm not sure if that's a girl thing, or just her! Although when we were looking for her, I called one breeder, and he informed me "uh uh. boy. you want a boy" (he was incredibly rude about it and only had boys left... so i figured he was just a big scumbag haha)

Well we have the interesting experience of having 2 males (my German Shepherd and 1 Dachshund) and 2 girls (my boxer and other Dachshund). I have to say that the girls are much more high maintenance (just like me!) They get into more mischief and destroy more stuff than you could imagine. My boys have different personalities (one more a snuggler, one more indpendent) but they are SO easy to take care of and keep track of. When Daisy and Brandi are on the prowl NOTHING in the house is safe! They are quite a team...and really funny to watch considering Daisy weighs 9 pounds and Brandi weighs 55! I do believe though that dogs are like people...it just depends on the individual pup. I have 4 dogs of 3 different breeds and they are unique as can be, each and every one! And I wouldn't trade them for the world! lovicon Best of luck with your new baby!

I currently have 2 male puppies ages 8months and 5 months. My older boy is as sweet as can be. My younger is more independant. I originally wanted a female both times but ended up with males and prefer it that way. I've even thought if ever these two are gone I'd get 2 more males. :)

After reading all the posts and if I didn't have a female boxer I would definitely go for the male. But our girl is everthing that we would want in a boxer. She loves to cuddle, loves to follow me everywhere, along with little Bailey the poodle. She climbes up in my lap, cuddles up next to me in bed and would protect me to no end. She is obedient and does what she is told. This is our first female dog as we've always had males and of course boxers are different than any other breed in that they are such big sucks. Maybe she is more protective of me than a male would be. I don't know but noone would get near me if I were home alone and a stranger came to our door. I think personality is the key to every dog. Hopefully, someday I will be able to get a male and have double the fun.
