I have Max and then came our female Riley. Now what I have to say I don't want anyone to think I like one over the other. I think Max is so much easier in so many ways. Riley is more set in her mind what should happen and Max at that age just wanted to please us. Max was way easier to train. Riley back talks more than Max ever did.

I guess I am more partial to the boys. But, I wouldn't give our hard headed, fiesty Riley back for anything in the world. She brings a whole different aspect to our family. congratulations on your new baby what ever sex you get. They are the best that could ever happen to you.

well, having both. i loved both of my babies. brutus was the oldest, very sweet and affectonate. riley was stubborn, both a moma and daddy's girl. she was spoiled rotten, but the biggest cuddlebug i had ever seen. i miss her so much, she always wanted to be held like a baby. i think it is what you like. my husband and i love our baby boy, but really LOVED the female personality.

also, i don't think the size thing is an issue. brutus is three years old and weighs 52 lbs. he is a lean boxer. I SWEAR we feed him, he is just lean. i was beginning to get worried about it, and my vet just told me i was overracting. so the size really matters with the mom and dad.

For me it depends what you are looking for in a dog. I find males more loving and always wanting to be around you. Females are more independant but can be loving but on their terms.

Have not noticed a difference in training, both picked up things well. The only difference I have noticed outside is that Finn will keep coming back to me for reassurance when at the park whereas Star wanders off and rarely comes back unless called.

Aside from the behavioral differences...having a female dog I have to mention the issue of incontinence. Females often become incontinent after being spayed, sometimes when young, sometimes with age. Males are much less likely to be incontinent but if they are there is much less therapeutic success with it. Just had to mention it as we have already had many challenging incontinence issues with out 16 month old girl, and this was something I never considered when deciding on sex.

I have one of both, and I think that Allie is much more independant and stubborn than her brother, TUCKER. He is much more of a momma's boy.. very lovey-dovey. He is also more reliable trained... he doesn't stop to think about the command and consider if that is the best thing for him to do like Allie does. He just wants to make Mommy happy. I wouldn't say that one sex is better than the other though. I love both of my dogs. Each one has it's own personality- as will all dogs! :)

Prior to Aspen, I had never had a female whereas my husband grew up with a female golden retriever. So when it came time for a second dog we decided on a female, mainly because I thought it would be better to have 1 male and 1 female. I agree that all dogs/animals have individual personalities but I do notice that Aspen is more intuned with me personally. She is also stubborn, more stubborn than any male I have ever had but that could just be her personality. I think it doesn't matter, all dogs ( esp boxers) are wonderful and individuals, I am sure that you will love your new baby and all of the personality quirks that come with him!!

i'm the biggest sucker for indivduality i have 3 femals but i had males in the past and my friend had schazi's 2 male brothers i think femals are more independant more stuborn by far the talk back and make thier own desitions(sp?) males were more layeb back but i love to have dominant charachter in my babies that is why i always go for femals they are more of free spirits than males i have always felt that way at the dog park. i live in an appartment and use indoors toilet training it's imposoble to take the kids out on the street where i live, and i've always felt having both males and femals that femals are easier to train for indoors.

If I could have one boxer, and only one....it would be a male.

But boxers are like Lays potato chips...you can't have just one.

I have had three females and one male so far. Right now I have a 2 year old female - Payton and a 7 year old male - Owen.

I have found ALL of the them to be different... I think that it depends on the dogs personality.

Owen is NOT a cuddlebug, he is very independant and does not follow me or my husband around much. I love him dearly, but he is different than all my girls.

Payton is a total cuddlebug, has to be with us all the time, is VERY active, loves to play and is very smart...

Just different. I would get another male in a heartbeat, but I bet that male will be different than Owen!!

Just my thoughts
