I have one of each - and in my experience, (little that it is), Brewster is much more of a "mama's boy" and Adrienne can be more of a brat ;) Of course, she is also at that age where she is testing both me and Brewster to see what she can get away with, but Brewster was never as stubborn as she is being right now. So, we'll see as she grows up. However, she is definitely more outgoing/fearless, goofier and possibly more entertaining than Brewster, so it really depends on what you're looking for.

Then again, this could just be their personalities ;)

Keeper's Mom

Boxer Buddy
Congrats on your new baby coming soon. We have a boy and he is only 62 lbs which the dog trainer said was little. Considering the rescue also had boys over 80 lbs, I guess so. Our friends have a girl and she is much more stubborn than Keeper is. But I also believe it depends on the dog as well. We love our boy to death and wouldn't have it any other way.

I have a female who is 11 month's and she is quite lovable but stubborn and very hard headed and has selected hearing (but then again I think they all do):)

I have a 3 month old male and he is also quite lovable but he is a bit to young for me to compare as of now. I will say one thing though he has been much more easier to potty train than my female.

Rocco's Mom

Super Boxer
We have our male Rocco who will be 1yr. next week. We went into the process wanting a male boxer. My husband had been working lots of evenings so I really wanted a companion dog to keep me company. Female dogs seem to be more clingy to the men in their lives and males the women. Also in reading about boxer characteristics, males want to be by your side follow you from room to room but don't always demand your attention (this is true of Rocco). Females want to be by your side but want your attention and from what I understand tend to be a little more moody.
I haven't had any experience with female boxers though....this is merely what I learned prior to having Rocco. Either way, once you meet the puppies, you'll know which one is right for you. Their personalities are pretty prominent early on ! Good luck.

Boxer Insane
I've only had one female, but Ronin is my second boy. The female could be pretty sneaky, aloof and could be be quite nasty. She was definitely Daddy's girl though :) In my limited experience, so far the males have been much more loveable and easy going. They love nothing better than being with you. Like everyone has said however, it really depends on the dog. :)

I wouldn't say males are more loving, Ruby is amazingly loving but I think males are more laid back, I know my Luka is less highly strung than the girls, he was also easier to train in a lot of areas :)

male vs female

I dont know if it is a sex thing or a birth order thing but our male Jack (the older one ) was MUCH easier to train . Ruby , the little sister , was difficult to train. I will admit to being less strict ... isnt that always the case with the second one :)She is so stubborn and sneaky. Jack LOVES to cuddle he MUST have body to body contact at all times, although he is not much of a licker/kisser. Jack is also the one who gets scared with loud noises and pouts when he is scolded. He is VERY sensitive. A big baby ! Ruby is independent yet very affectionate only when she wants to be. You cant force it. If you grab her little smooshy face and kiss her , she pulls away and runs to find a toy which she then rams into your leg until you play with her. When cuddling is her idea she will climb into your lap and lick your face to death. All I can say is they are like night and day.

I think the males are more laid back and easy going. My uncle has a female and she is very high strung and stubborn. My boy is very laid back except when there's a noise outside...He follows me everywhere but doesn't demand attention all that much. He sleeps in the bed with me and he always has to be touching me, whether it's him laying directly beside me, half on top of me, or just with his head on my foot (which can be annoying when its hot because he gives off ridiculous heat). When I first started looking to get a pup I wanted a female because no one in my family had ever had a male so I just felt like I knew what to expect with a female but I ended up with Murph and I wouldn't trade him for anything. And when I'm ready to add number two I think I'll definately go for another male....

From my experience our Male dogs have seemed more mellow, more content just to follow me around while the females always seem to be a little more hyper.

The only problem with our male dog right now is that he legs to pee on everything outside... including patio furniture at the neighborhood bbq to antique chairs displayed at the outdoor flea market! ... my females don't do that ( as much ).

I have gotten to spend a lot of time with Punchinella's brother here lately. Punchie (female) is more independent but is overall better trained and behaves better. However, Boo (male) is much more affectionate, but not very well disciplined. Of course, that could have to do with his owner vs. us and how we train, etc.
