I am getting a boxer in the next few weeks but am unsure of what gender I should get. I have heard that females are more affectionate that males, and have also heard that males are more drawn to female owners and females are more affectionate with male owners. I want one who is gonna be loving with me. If anyone of you can give me advice it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I have two males now but had females in the past.... I personally haven't noticed a difference between my males and my females.

Good luck choosing your new pup! :)

I posted a similar question a while back. I have my first boy and although my girls are very sunggly, he is out of control with the lovin's. The consensus from my post weather males were more affectionate, was that it depends on the dog.

I think both sexes are equally affectionate; it just depends on who they bond to. Ruby treats me differently than she does my husband and I have been told this is a gender thing. Ruby and I are "buds" and we hang out and she listens but when my husband speaks, she is at attention.
I have heard that females are more protective but I don't know for myself...Good luck!

Had two females - always thought females made the best pets.........until I got my first little boy. Mack has made a convert out of me. My females were smarter, more energetic (read that as hyper) and dog aggressive, very affectionate. But Mack is quieter, more laid back and able to have fun with most other dogs.
Both of our females had spay incontinence - that is why we chose a male this time.

I have a female and have always had females in the past. Stella is my first boxer and she is much more affectionate than my previous dogs, (both Border Collies). I think Boxers are a more luving/affectionate breed than others. Stella follows me all over the house and when I'm not in she follows my mum, I should have called her shadow.

I'm sure you'll fall for your boxer, Boy or girl.

PROBLEM SOLVED....get one of each!!!

I've had six boxers, four females, two males. They were all very affectionate with both of us. Out of all these dogs, it was a mix of which one was more attached to who. I think it just depends on the dog. One of our females was completely attached to John. His sister actually bought her, but the dog lived for the moment that John came to visit, she would get so excited when he came in, and then sit by the door and cry for him when he left, so, his sister gave him the dog! :)This dog was VERY protective of John, and she was really the only aggressive dog that we had. Another female was my baby. She lived to be with me. So, again, I think it just depends on the individual dog. One of the males loved me more, you could just tell that I was so important to him, but the other male was just happy to be with his people and fellow dogs. Of course, when you buy a dog, you never know who it will bond more with, I got Duquessa for me and guess what? She ADORES John! She is loving and affectionate with me, but if John's home, she stays by his side. I keep telling him that now I have to get another boxer for ME!

Gilroy, California is the self-proclaimed "Garlic Capital of the World!" A lot of garlic is grown in the fields around here, but more than that.............it is processed here. We have a festival every July where all types of garlic laden foods are served - even garlic ice-cream and garlic wine! It smells wonderful (if you like garlic) and there are *NO* vampires around here!
