My Male Boxer named Champ FAWN IN COLOR, WHITE CHEST, 4 WHITE PAWS (TIPS), LIGHT WHITE BLAZE ON NOSE, DOCKED TAIL, NATURAL EARS, AND A SCAR ON HIS RIGHT SHOULDER came up missing in October of '03. I know that this is a little late for the post (I will explain), but I still have hope. I used to live in Cecil County Maryland, I just moved to Bergen County New Jersey on September 19 '03. And when I did I left my dog Champ behind at my old house with my mother and my sister. I had to get a few things situated in Jersey and then I was going to come back for him in a few weeks.

Well, one day in early October they let Champ outside and when they went to let him back inside he wasn't in the yard. The tree in the front yard had lifted up the ground a little right next to the fence and sometimes Champ would get out through there if he seen the neighborhood kids playing. But, they would bring him right back home if he did that. My mom and sister looked for him all of that day, and even the next. But he never came up. And, when they asked the kids, they said that they hadn't seen him at all.....which isn't normal. That is why I think he may have been stolen. My mom also called all of the local vets, posted fliers, and I did things online to look for him. But nothing....

A couple of days later my mom found his collar in the front yard inside of one of the bushes. It had all of his ID tags on it. The reason why I started to slack on looking for Champ was because rumors started making there way up to me in Jersey that my ex had stolen him from my yard, which didn't surprise me. I even had a lady call my house in Jersey saying that she thought she had adopted a boxer from my ex, and that she had seen Champ on the property. Well, after a thorough search...I found that none of this was true. And funny as this sounds I could only get ahold of that lady one time, after that she never answered my calls or returned them. That still blows my mind.

After searching so much, and nothing ever turning up and after that incident, I started to get a little discouraged. But, I still have hope. This is what Champ looks like. He is a fawn male (almost 2 yrs.), white chest, 4 white paws (the tips), light white blaze on his nose docked tail, natural ears, and he has a scar on his right shoulder (I believe it is his right), weighed approx 50lbs.I got him from a BYB in July of '02. He is AKC registered and she claimed that he was of champion bloodline. But, I think he got the bad genes. I think he may have hip displacia, and what I believe is called roach back. He is a very well behaved dog that loves to play, sometimes a little bit too rough. lol. But if he has found a good home, I would hate to take him away from them. I would just like to know that he is safe and in good hands. It kills me at night to think that he could be with a bad person right now. If you have seen this dog please PM me!
Thanks,
Rachel

Rachel,
Have you called all the local shelters and the Boxer rescues? He could have made his way into a rescue situation if he got lost. I found a lost pit bull puppy a few years back and I held onto her until they found the onwers. I called the local shelters, vets, and animal control and left my name & number. I couldn't keep her permanently but I would have turned her over to a rescue if the breeder didn't turn up to claim her.
Good Luck!

Champ Has Been Found!!

The last time I came to look for Champ (2 wks. ago) I decided to post up flyers again about Champ. With in about a week and a half I had a reply. It was from a guy that lives not too far from where he came up missing. He says: Apparently some ex family members of him took Champ and have been breeding him with their female boxer. They put him outside sometimes, but it's on a short leash. But other than that the people lock him and the female up inside a bedroom in the house.
I asked him if he had actually seen the dog on the property and all of the usual questions. He is 100% sure that it is Champ....he even has the scar on his shoulder. The sick part of this whole story is that the woman that has him actually works at an animal shelter....so my call to that shelter did no good at all when I was looking for him.
Anyways, I went to this ladies house and I am sure she was home (tv and lights on in house), but she didn't answer the door. And I was knocking for a good hour. Of course she didn't call the police because she knew she would be screwing herself over. I ended up finally getting her to answer her phone. I was really polite to her, pretty much asking for her to release my dog to me, well she completely flipped her lid telling me that I was lying because she didn't have my dog. But if she didn't she wouldn't be so hostile. I asked her why she was acting like that and she said because I had no business calling her house.
I have yet to get Champ back yet.....and the cops aren't being too friendly about it. Apparently, they only will escort you on a property if it is a domestic. So tomorrow I am going to get a court order against her for return of property. If the police see Champ on her property and she refuses to give him back...they will arrest her. I am also going to go to her job to talk to her...since it is a guarntee to see her. I'm not sure of anything else that I can do besides see if the SPCA will help. If you have any ideas please post.

OMG! I am so sorry to hear about what Champ has been put through! Please tell us when you get him back! I am sending prayers your way that he is back ASAP! Good luck and please update on your situation. Also please let other people read this and see that it is so important to spay and neuter as this is not the first time I have heard of a boxer being stolen from his/her family to be used for breeding. Hugs for you and I hope your next post says that Champ is back with you. I am so sorry I cannot offer any advice but lots of support to you.

I know the major game plan is a nueter and also a microchip as soon as I get him back. I sometimes blame myself for him going through this. I feel horrible about it. I forgot to mention that I talked to the ladies neighbors and they all confirmed that Champ is on the property. Last time he was seen was last night. I also seen signs around the house that he is there. He jumps up on the outside door when he wants in, and the door where he gets chained up is covered in his doggie paw prints...along with the screen tore up in the window. Which is all to familiar to me.....I never kept him on a chain in the yard since it is fenced in, but he always had that unique 'knock'. lol. I also hear him barking inside of the house. I just hope everything goes well...since I am not sure how long of a process it will be.

Thanks for the prayers,

Rachel

Well you are going the right way about it as I know it must be hard for you not to just want to stake out the place and grab him when he is in the yard. You are right about the micro chip! If a dog had one and there was a dispute that would pretty much end it. I also have to point out (since I am moving myself in a few weeks) people need to remember to call and have their info changed on the chip when they move. I have already done that once and all it requires is a phone call and a check at the vet to ensure the info is correct. More hugs and I hope that it all goes smoothly. I don't understand why the police can't go "seize" him? I hope they do not give you any further problems.

OMG - I can't believe people!!! I am glad that you are going about this the right way to avoid any problems once you get him home. I would definatley neuter him once he comes home to make sure this doesn't happen again. Please keep us posted and let us know when he comes home!

I am SO sorry! I can't even beleive someone would do that. What a worthless person. And she works at the shelter and STILL adds to the overpopulation notot mention with someone else's dog!

I applaud you for going about it the right way. She had no right to take him and refuse to give him back. I really really really hope the law will help you get your dog back. It's absolutely rediculous that they won't just go in and get him. Sending prayers your way for the return of your boy and sending brain waves to the law to just do the right thing.
