My 4.5 month old Bailey girl started limping about five days ago. She was keeping her right leg in the air and was really moping around. I took her to the emergency Vet who took xrays of her hips and examined her legs but could not determine the problem. The vet suggested 7 days kennel rest which is no prob because she's crate trained. Three days later she bagan to walk on the leg and I was very relieved.
The next day without warning she began to limp again but this time keeping her left(the other) leg in the air. We are now in the third day of limping on the left leg and i've seen no improvement. Bailey is now starting to form a small lump on the middle of her back.
The vet said she has loose hip sockets and will likely be displastic later in life. I can deal with that...but a displastic dog at 4.5 months. Has anyone else dealt with this overnight limping and if so what is it and can it get fixed.
If not myself and the breeder are going to have some serious issues due to my outrage with them breeding so irresponsibly.
I will keep you updated as to her condition but until then healing thoughts would be great. Thanks

HOD seems to fit her symptoms to a tee. This is the article i read concerning HOD. Please advise if you've got a better one...and thanks so much, finding the problem is half of the cure.

Yes, thats the article I found that seemed to be the best as well.
The more I read, the more i'm starting to think it really might be that.

However, it seems like HOD is a medical way of saying that healthy puppies will have growing pains and may grow faster htan they can handle... time will tell.

For my pup, i think i'm pretty positive that he will out grow it.. I think yours will too!!!

Maybe mention that to the vet the next time? I'm going for a second opinion next week.
GL!
