My husband and I got our first boxer before we were married and thought it would be kind of like having a trial run at parenthood. Now we are on our second boxer and I truly think that it is VERY close to skinkid parenting. I never thought that before I had kids I would say so many things like:
Will you watch them while I take a bath?
Has Munson pooped yet this afternoon?
If you get up early this morning, I will get up early tomorrow...
Will you pleeeeaaase get up out of bed and clean the puke from the crate?
:)

So glad Murray is ok. They do act like toddlers. But as time goes on they will settle down. Ginger is 6 now, so she does not get into much like when she was a pup. But her toddler ways came around last week. When she was a pup, she would get into the toilet paper and eat it. Well since then we took it from the holder and put it on the back of the toilet where she can't reach. My hubby said, we should put the toilet paper where it should be. I said, yes, Ginger is 6 and mature.:D Well, one afternoon it was quiet in here. My house is not big, I could not find her, low and behold, Ginger is sitting on the bathroom floor feasting on the toilet paper.:o I tolder her NO. Two days after she was at it again. Now it is back up where she can't get it. I guess at 6 she is still a toddler.:p

A toddlers curiousity mixed with some teenage angst and rebellion. That is my 1 year 4 month old baby.

"Can I eat that? Oops I just got a big NO. Better wait till she is busy or sleeping before I eat her bottle of prescription pills. Whoa, now I'm high on drugs, better try to wake mommy up. Oh goody mommys awake at 3am and taking me for a car ride. Whoa look at the lights. They're aliens, man, aliens. Mommy I'm scared."

"Wahhhhhh, I'm just a baby why would mommy take me to the hospital to get my tummy pumped? Wahhhhhh!"

"This sucks mom, it's not like I was buying drugs in the city."
"Wahhhhhh, mommy take care of me."

A constant battle. I have found from the experience above that yes, they need constant supervision. We gotta stay a step ahead of them. Sometimes I walk around on my hands and knees to get an eye level perspective of what Loki may be tempted to investigate.

They are our kids, our babies, our rotten teenagers too. What works for me is exersize. Tire them out. Let them investigate the outside world. Let them run like cheatas for a good 45 minutes, take them home bribe them with a bull pizzle, and watch them doze off.

P.S. Don't think I haven't thought of boot camp though.

OMG Trinity is so like a toddler! She's only 8 months old and I tell my husband all the time I'm glad we got her before having skin kids because I'd be going crazy if we had both right now! There are some days she's so good, we leave her home all day while we're at work and she's never gotten into anything she shouldn't have. Now when we are home that's a different story. I'm constantly chasing her around the house trying to get something she shouldn't have away from her! smashicon I can't go anywhere in the house without her otherwise I know she'll be getting into something. I feel like I have to get a Snuggli to carry her around in all the time!!!!!

This post cracks me up as i say the same thing all the time..... Sasha is into anything she can find.....and if she dissappears for more that a minute....i have to go and investigate and see what she is doing....more that likely she has stashed something under the bed....paper towels, socks and candy wrappers are her favorites. And i have 'kid-proofed' this house more than i did when we had 3 kids(ages 8, 5, 2) for the summer.....UNBELIEVABLE!! She loves to eat the plant leaves and will eat the artificial moss out of the silk ficus trees in the house so they now have green towels(was the closest thing to grass i could think of....LOL)....surrounding the trees at the base!! She is truly a 'little monster/toddler'.....i wonder if she will ever just sleep all day!!?? smashicon

I'm a teacher and I try to sit on the floor and grade papers so my boys can lay next to me. As soon as my red pen comes out it's like gold! My poor students have nail holes in their papers, red marks all over, and sometimes teeth marks! They take bets on who is goin gto have the most marks on their papers! But my Oskar loves pens, towels, socks, plants, his leash, collar, blankets, everything!
