Like Having a Toddler..............

I swear I have to watch Murray all the time, hoping that he won't get himself into some sort of trouble. The other day I was putting up Halloween decorations in my yard, which is fenced. One of the neighbors was walking by with her "skin" toddler and they stopped by the fence to look at Murray. He was having the time of his life running back and forth and I was watching through the corner of my eye the whole time. Well, all of a sudden I heard this heart wrenching cry -- Murray's bottom tooth was stuck on the piece of wire at the bottom of the chain link fence! I immediately ran over to free him, which wasn't easy because he was pulling backwards so hard I was afraid he was going to pull his tooth out! I needed him to go forward so I could release it but that was too impossible so with all my might I lifted the fence and freed him! I, of course, then became his hero and he wouldn't leave my side or stop kissing me all night long!

Does anyone else feel that having a Boxer is sometimes like having a toddler?

There are days when I'm gald I only have furbabies! My husband and I still take shifts in the morning. Disney is 8 years old so we don't worry about him. Oskar is only 6 months and he still eats plants, takes things off the tables etc. I've started leaving him for 5 minutes and then coming back and praise and treat. But I know what you mean!!!

Yep...both of mine are...Harlie is 9 months, and pretty much easy to handle, but every once in a while when I'm not looking, she will make sure she does something she isnt supposed to ... like chew up my slippers! There was foam everywhere! Haha...Max though, is our real "toddler" we have to watch him all the time, whether he is pinning the cat to the floor, or getting into something he shouldnt, its always something with him.

I agree completely, Linda!! The mischief and mishaps they can get into is amazing. Turn your back for one second and !

Buster sends Murray some slobbery kisses to make him feel better. :p

Yes, yes, yes, yes and yes! I only have furbabies also and I don't think I could deal with having a toddler and a boxer!!!:D We were walking the other day on the bike path and he kept sniffing every thing and trying to put everything in his mouth. Well he picked up a cigarette butt and just as I was saying "leave it" he got the filter part stuck on his tooth you should have heard the crying! He freaked out! Mommy rescued him for the evil cigarette butt! He hasn't touched one since.

He really is my kid! I make his breakfast and dinner, prepare his snacks (kongs), make sure he does his exercises (walks), he does his homework (sit, stay, come etc...) and of course play with him.Wouldn't exchange him for the worldlovicon

I have actually noticed he will touch different things with his mouth and look around or at me as if to say "Can I?...is this ok I'm I allowed?, can I chew the couch, carpet, my bed, remote control, can I eat plants, rocks, dust, cat hair, cat food, cat litter, whatever in can find......he must think his name is "NO" sometimes!

Hope Murray feels better.:D

I totally agree with that statement. Cain is really bad about requiring constant supervision. He will be 2 on the 30th. We say all the time that he is worse than a toddler and he is a full time job. But of course, we wouldn't trade him for the world.

Legacee is 10 now and we don't have to watch her too closely. She's my angel. Although, when she was younger she could be quite mischievious. ;)

I have to watch Beau diligently, too! He gets into stuff that Samantha never did, and he leaves things alone that Samantha would have destroyed! They are so different. I do leave him alone for short periods, but I investigate whenever things get too quiet or I hear new noises.

The other day Beau had gotten one of my huge green plastic watering cans and was trying to bring it through the dog door! What a racket!

When I first got him, he scaled the chain link fence several times if I left him alone in the yard, but he hasn't done that in about a month!

This too shall pass!

The same thing happened to us! We were working with Dieter to not "fence fight" with the dog next door and he was doing well, we had him in a sit. All the sudden, he couldn't contain himself and lunged -- his tooth got caught! Thank goodness my husband was there because he was pulling so hard -- it took both of us to push him forward so his tooth could get "unhooked!"

Fortunately, our boy isn't so bad with "getting into things," but he's no angel, either! When it gets too quiet, you know there's trouble!
