A new bump in the road

Mugsy had a small lump removed Friday. The vet just called to tell me that it came back as a grade one mast cell tumor. In my heart I know that things could be much worse, but I am so upset. I don't want to cry because it upsets the boys, but I just cannot believe that this poor animal has another health issue to battle. So, once again I ask my BW family to send prayers and vibes for Mugsy, who, other than this new development, is doing great.

Thanks so much everyone! Mugsy looks great and gets around better every day. Today was rough; I just wanted to be with my boys. Mugsy is going back to the vet on Monday. I am not worried about the procedure--he's been through more, and in a much weakened condition. He has proven to me over and over again how strong and resilient he is, so how can I undermine his determination with worry? Last October, when the neurologist called and told me that his nerve biopsy showed severe deterioration with no signs of regeneration, I thought we had lost. Mugsy proved us all wrong. He is a warrior, and I owe it to him to keep the faith that we will overcome this too. I couldn't wait to have a moment to cry today, but your support gave me the strength not to.

I am so sorry to hear about Mugsy's mct. Poor Mugsy, he can't catch a break. I am thrilled to hear he is doing good (other than the mct.) I think about your baby all the time, he is such an inspiration to us all!!!! Try no to worry to much about the mct, Chance just had his 6th one removed last week. My poor boy has scar's all over him from so many tumors he has had. This last one was a grade 2 and extended close to the margines, I was devasted because I was NOT expecting this teeny tiny bump to be anything. He had ACL sx and I figured while he was under I would get it removed, low and behold it was another mct. He had his first mct tumor removed when he was around 3 years old, he will now be 8 years old in December. So, I know it's hard but try not to worry about it too much. All you can do is keep a very close eye on him for any future bumps and get them removed.


Give Mugs a big hug from me. You will be in my thoughts and prayers big guy!!!!!

What does Mugsy have to go back to the vets for on Monday, just a check-up?

Thanks Carrie. I just found out that Mugsy's brother--also Mugsy--had an MCT removed last year. I spoke to my vet again last night and grilled him with more questions. His responses made me feel better, and he even promised to take Mugsy in as his first surgical patient on Monday morning so I can have him back sooner. I actually feel like I can get through the weekend without being a freak! Imagine that!
