Could it be fate?

After a very strenuous day at swim, and an overnight filled with ringing phones, among other interruptions, Mugsy went to acupucture. When I was leaving, I met a four month-old pup recovering from a broken back leg. His daddy is a chiropractor and he checked some things on Mugsy and suggested I get some chiropractic care ASAP. The craziest thing...he had me touch Mugsy's spine, toward the rear, and hold my other arm out straight. As he paplated Mugsy's neck, he pushed down on my arm. I was able to keep my arm up against his push until he came to Mugsy's atlas (a neck bone that headache sufferers get "karate chopped" by a chiropractor to reset--I have to have this done often b/c I get migraines. It isn't a pleasant experience, but boy does it work!). When he pushed on the atlas, my arm collapsed. I had no strength! I may not have mentioned that a Rekhi message therapist looked over Mugsy at the pool one night and said she sensed a "disruption of flow" in his neck. She gave me the number of a cranial-sacral therapist. It is all so overwhelming. Could it be fate that I ran into this man? I had changed my appointment to an hour earlier because we had a snow day again and work was closed. He took my number and called me later to tell me that he had found a canine chiropractor in my town! Can you guess who I am calling tomorrow? He was surprised that an MRI had never been done, but Mugsy had come down with the kennel cough that turned to pneumonia after his nerve and muscle biopsies. The neurologist did not want to anesthetize him after that. We see our regular (new and improved) vet next week for a rabies titer, so I will ask him about the MRI then.

All in all, Mugsy is very affected by interrupted nights and is having a rough time with all the ice outside. Today was not the greatest day--didn't eat all his breakfast, stayed in my bed until noon, vomited water after dinner--but I'm pretty sure I know what the contributing factors were. Right now, he seems pretty content by the fire and I'm not too concerned (Imagine that--the worrry-wart is not concerned!). He did a great 6 laps at the pool yesterday and I did take pictures of both boys. I should have them in the gallery by week's end.

Hope you are all staying warm!

Fate believer here;) I know how I feel like a different person after an adjustment or a massage so why wouldn't it work on canines?? Please let us know how it works out. In the meantime, keep that fire burning(the one in your heart too!) and give Mugsy some extra warm snuggles as it looks like we have a "little" snow on the way.

Keeping you and Mugsy in our prayers,
Taryn and Layla

Allison, I really do think it is fate!!!!! Things always happen for a reason, and today it was for you to run into that Chiropracter for sure. He even found a place for you and Mugs to got to how awesome is that?!?! You have tried and done EVERYTHING for your baby, maybe this will help him out tremendisly, it is diffently worth a try. I'm sorry Mugs did not have a good day today, give him a big ((((squeeze))) for me. I cannot wait until you get your pictures back so we can see our boy in action!!!

Mugsy, you still are always on my mind in my prayers. Stay strong big guy, it's ok to have bad days, it just makes us stronger in the long run. XOXOXO to you sweetie!!!!!

Thanks, guys. I checked the website, and will call the chiropractor tomorrow.
Taryn,
I am hoping for another snow day so maybe I can get him to this doctor sooner! Don't worry, I am not planning to go anywhere until the roads are clear, especially with such precious cargo. Hubby is a police officer, so I get "road updates" from him!
Carrie,
I am afraid I will not be able to squeeze Mugsy until tomorrow. If I disturb him, he "gaks". As soon as I can get one in without ill effects, I will. I'll be sure to tell him it was from you!
going to bed now--'night!

I just wanted to say that I am new to BW and I stumbled on to your thread. I was so engrossed with Mugsey and what has happened to him, I started reading from the beginning! I am glad to see that things are looking up for him and that he is feeling better.

I will pray for both of you. I know that everything will work out fine!!!!

Hi Allison,
Sorry to hear things have been gloomy. I'm sure once it clears up and warms up it will get better. Every time I read your threads I have to go look at your pics. I'm absolutely taken breathless by your boys. They are so beautiful!! I hope that one day when Dexter grows up to be a "big boy" he will be just as handsome as Mugsey and Shadow.....as I look at him now rolling around on his back with legs in the air going nuts over ? I just don't see it!

I look forward to hearing more about the Chiropractor and seeing some swimming pics!

Sincerely,
Jodi and Dexter!

Hi again everybody! Nice to meet you Legare29, and thanks for you prayers and encouragement. Mugsy is here and happy, and I am sane because of all the support and prayer we have been receiving. Well, we have a chiropractor appointment with a vet who cared for on of my horses many moons ago! We are going to see him on Friday night. More good news is that he is not too far from home, and not crazy expensive--phew. My mother has been telling me all along that I should bring Mugsy to a horse doctor, which didn't make a world of sense to me, but if this works, then I welcome her saying, "I told you so!"

Carrie--I got a slew of squeezes in for you this afternoon and Mugsy said to send this back to you...frogicon (We need a dogicon here!)

Jodi--Dexter is already a knockout! I guess I should put some pics in the gallery that show the true side of the boys...still not grown up, and still rolling around with legs in the air!

Swim pics coming as soon as I can brave the store--too many people stocking up on t.p. and milk to deal with!

Cindy--I am also awaiting my colostrum order and hoping you're right about that missing link.

I will be back on Friday night to fill in all the details. Until then, I'll be anxious, nervous, and quietly hopeful that we are one step closer to Mugsy's miracle healing.

Allison
