Kongs

So I think Rocki's allergy may be to either PB (from Kong) or corn (from cheap treats). We stopped the cheap treats (which she loves) and the PB for now. I have been stuffing her KONG with Stoneyfield Farms plain yogurt and freezing it. I bought a jar of baby food to try too - I will freeze that too. What do you guys use in your Kongs? I will be adding some Kibble too. I have two Kongs that I try to keep stuffed for her when we go to work.

Sal & Sam's Kongs are usually stuffed with kibble, plain yogurt, banana, PB, diced carrots, & some type of jerky. Sometimes, I do baby food & they LOVE that!

Just make sure the baby food you purchased does not contain onion or onion powder (many do) as it's toxic to dogs.

You can do a good quality canned food mixed with kibble, plain yogurt, healthy jerkies, boiled chicken, beef, pork, any veggie (that isn't toxic to dogs), fruit, liver, I mean really anything you can think of.

Also if you go to kong's website or do a google search for kong recipes there are tons listed on their site plus other websites that have a ton of them as well.

We have a kong too, but never know how much to fill it. One time, food got stuck in there and spoiled. It was not a pretty site. So, since then, I just put a" little" PB and kibbles in there. HOw much are you suppose to fill the cavity? I'll have to check the Kong site to look for ideas.
Is it best to freeze it? Sounds great, but since I'm not a planner...I think of doing that right before I go somewhere. LOL

I actually found a cleaning brush designed for Kongs at my local pet store, but haven't had to use it yet. We were having the same problem - treats getting stuck in the bottom. I would have to soak the Kong for a LONG time to get it to come out.
For a while, I was freezing Kongs for Cash. We have 2 Kongs, so it made it a little easier on me to just go ahead and stuff both of them full with plain yogurt and smaller treats and pop them in the freezer. Currently, I'm just cramming a variety of smaller treats in the Kong and wedging them where he would have to work to get them out, then topping it off with some of the Kong stuffing.

i have always just used pb - wich sam loves - but with warm weather coming , i might try the freezing of yogurt ! such a good idea - and i feed wellness 95% i think that would freeze nicely also ! ? (maybe ) well i will check it out , off to find that kong ( usually under my bed or the couch ! LOL once i found it IN my bed - yuck ! )

I just use a baby bottle brush to clean the inside of mine and then throw it in the top rack of the dishwasher. Never had any issues with food getting stuck in there with using the bottle brush.

Rocki may be having allergies to the PB. We have started using baby food in her Kong. I have used yogurt but since we are going on a LID I am stopping that. She is starting Sweet Potato and Venison LID food. We use baby food sweet potatoes, some kibble, an ice cube with a treat (sweet potato and venison) and then cover the hole with a little more sweet potatoes. We then freeze it. I have also bought some of the canned food to try with this but haven't used it yet. I find that 1 large jar of baby food lasts 8 Kong fillings.

Those Kong stuffings sound really messy! I can imagine what Sonia would do with all that goo... wouldn't be pretty!

I freeze them in a ziploc bag and she eats them IMMEDIATELY. She goes nuts over these so surprisingly they are not very messy. Plus she only gets them in her kennel - otherwise it would probably leave some carpet stains.
