To keep the end from getting caked full of food if they can't reach it, I put kibble in first. I normally put enough kibble to come up to that first ring in the tip and then stuff it with various other goodies found in the fridge and then freeze. It sound messy but it really isn't because the dogs don't leave it alone long enough for it to make a mess!
