While there's probably a little more room on the pile for some to jump on, I've gotten the gist of your opinions. Makes me wonder if, in the past, I'd always been civil and polite to people who owned Akitas; other owners probably received my "advice" with a similar hint of condescension, patronization and/or hostility. After all, I knew all that there was to know about Akitas. And if someone else didn't know what I knew, they were sure to find out the hard way.

That said, I'm not going to argue with the good forum moms about indoor vs. outdoor. Rather, I'll continue to weigh all options that are in our dog's best interest.

Thanks again.

well, add me to the pile, then! I am sure you feel as if you are being attacked, but no one here is "jumping on you" for any other reason than concern for your boxer. Rather than responding defensively, with condescension or hostility, you might want to consider that if all of us here are so concerned, then there is probably a great deal of validity to our concern, not just an attempt to prove ourselves smarter or better boxer owners!
You wish to "weigh all options" regarding what is in the best interest of your boxer, great...then please pick up ANY book on boxers and look up what it says about the boxer as an outdoor dog....nowhere will you see it stated that a boxer is suitable for outdoor living.
You came to this website/fourm for advice and information, and of course you will not always agree with some of the suggestions you recieve, I'm sure all of us have differing opinions on many areas...but this is one area where I am afraid you will NOT find anyone to support your decision or back your choice to disagree. Many of the folks here have bred, shown, lived with and raised boxers for many years--and many of us have veterinary experience--so I would hope you will reconsider your views on keeping your boxer outdoors for his/her sake. Also--as the others have said as well--you really should have your boxer seen by a vet to determine what is causing the vomiting/diarrhea rather than ignoring the problem by banishing her to the yard! maybe a boxer is not the right breed for you....

I think the reason people are getting as upset as they are is because of what you are saying, such as the above. What's best for the dog, especially because of the breed you chose, IS for her to be inside, not left outside in the cold. With that being said, are you thinking about what's best for Kona, or what's best for you?? What's best for Kona is a no brainer, there are no options left for you to weigh...

On another note, I hope your baby is ok and feels better real soon...It's so hard to watch them when they are sick...

I am not interested in arguing--seems like you are very set in your opinions--but I am interested in Kona's welfare.

Colorado has some very good boxer rescue organizations if you find that Kona isn't the right dog for you.

Since you know all about Akitas you know they have a double coat, waterproof outside and a insulated undercoat.
But one look will show the difference between a Boxer and an Akita.
Whilst your Akitas might be OK outside, your Boxer will not be.
Sort of like the difference between you spending the night outside in your undies, or in your ski suit.

Before BW....I was feeding the wrong food, buying the wrong treats, bought both of my babies from BYB's, didn't have the right toys (cuz) :), and wanted another puppy. Since BW, the food is different, treats have changed...most of the time, we now have 4 cuzs squeaking uncontrollaby, I will never support another BWB, and our newest "puppy" is a 2 year old rescue we found at the local SPCA. So there is a lot to LEARN here. I have not been bashed by anyone because of what I didn't know. That said......bring your puppy in and let him sleep with you.....snuggle and spoon and have a great nights sleep. You will probably enjoy it as much as he does.....:)

I completely agree with Tracy....
I have learned so much from BW. I have received some reponses which have seemed harsh at times, but I always knew they weren't directed meanly towards me...everyone was interested in the best well being of my Champ. You have to understand that that is what everyone here wants - the best thing for your baby.

I hope you bring him inside (I love to wake them up in the morning...flat ears, wiggly nubbies, sleepy eyes)....best to both of you.

I am just curious did you ever take your boxer to the vet to be checked out to what is causing her to be sick?

Poor Kona

I just got sick reading this post. I have to beleive that this is some freakin joke and that someone just joined BW and posted something so ignorant just to get us real Boxer owners all fired up. Well congratulations, it worked.

Exactly what I am thinking. I am fired up so it did work.

I am so sad picturing Kona curled up, shivering in the corner of a dog run all night.

Not being knowledgable about boxers is one thing, we have all learned something about the breed while being a member here, but to be informed and to push it off is just plain crazy. I think that if someone really loves their baby and wants to do what is best for them, they will listen and learn. JMO
