Day 2 Update - 50/50
First of all...bless my vet. He's the absolute best! I called him this morning and he said that Simba had a rough night. However, his white blood cell count is up to 130 today. They did a distemper titre today and they'll get the results after the weekend. He is 100% Boxer, deaf and he's approximately 6-7 months old. I told him I'd go in today to see the little fella, and the vet said that would be fine.
I went there after work and the vet said they've renamed Simba. He's now been christened Lance Armstrong since he is a survivor. And we have to call him the whole name...Lance Armstrong. They suited me up proper and we went into the room where they're keeping him. So pitiful...I started crying immediately. We walked him outside, and he urinated but sat down from exhaustion, so we went back inside. They got him comfortable in his crate and let me sit down to visit him for awhile. Another thing that made me cry was they had him covered with a towel to keep him warm, and he just looked....comfortable. I'm sure that the first time in his short life that he's been cared for properly. The vet said he does seem more comfortable...he's moving without groaning now, his breathing isn't so labored, and he's getting some color back. He said sometimes they just have to get worse to get better. He wants to give him the best chance possible, and told me to keep praying for him, as the whole staff has been too. He also told me that no matter what happens, that I have done right by him.
Here's where my vet is the best...I told him I could make a payment today and he told me not to even worry about that right now. And when I told him I had emailed a few Boxer Rescue Groups today he told me that he was positive HE could find a home for him, so not to worry about that either. And as luck would have it, the dog he had mentioned that was just as bad as Lance Armstrong a while back...he happened to come in for a grooming today. They brought him out for me to seeand he's happy and healthy and about to start agility training. Hurrah!
Please continue sending vibes and prayers for Lance Armstrong the white boxer...because I think they might be working.
