God speed Jake and God bless you for knowing when to let him go, being brave eough to thelp him, and taking such good care-that is a wonderful age for a boxer. May sweet memories comfort you and eventually make you smile. Jake is safe and sound and romping with all the boxer angels gone to the bridge before him and you will see his sweet face again. Take care

I am very sorry for your loss. I too know that heart-wrenching feeling you describe. That emptiness. But your guy is happy now. Im sure that doesnt make you feel all to good right now, but you will someday. Time will help heal your pain. Maybe not completely, but then again I think we will always carry a little pain in our hearts over the loss of our angels. My prayers and thoughts are with you. May Jake 4ever run free!

So sorry for your loss of Jake sweet angelicon. Although you will miss him I am glad you decided not to let him suffer I did the same with my Willy and the vet agreed with me when it was time.

My Boyhood Dog
By Spike Milligan

Boxer, my Boxer,
where do you lie?
Somewhere under
a Poona sky.
Ah! my canine,
total joy
you were to me
when as a boy
we coursed the wind
and ran the while,
no end in sight,
mile after mile.
I was to you
and you to me
locked in a bond
eternally.
They never told me
when you died
to spare me pain
in case I cried.
So then to
those adult fears
denied you then,
my childhood tears.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved Jake. Take comfort in the fact that he is pain free, and that you gave him a wonderful life filled with love.

Oh why do I keep coming to the rainbow bridge forum?! Apparantly I enjoy crying like a baby..
I am so very, very sorry for your loss. Reading the pain in your initial post brings me right back to when Wilson died. Losing the dog you love truly is one of the hardest things you ever have to deal with.
I'm not sure if you actually ever get 'over' it, but bit by bit you do learn how to move forward. Agony turns to sadness, sadness turns to melancholy; I'm hoping one day it evolves into a place where we can look back on our lost friend with happiness and fond remembrance instead of pain.
My thoughts are with you. Be sure to let us know how you're managing.
