I was at the pet store (out of town) this weekend and picked up a bag of innova evo RM formula. It is similar to the original formula, but made with beef, venison, lamb and buffalo. Has anyone used this yet? I haven't opened the bag yet, but it might be good for dogs with allergies to chicken who want to feed a grainless kibble.

Yes, it looks excellent :) Very good news to see another high quality grainless product on the market, and equally pleasing that it isn't chicken-based.

Of the grainless "new generation" kibbles around, the only other non-chicken options is Solid Gold's Barking At The Moon (and it's turkey). So nice to see another option there.

I see EVO has also brought out a reduced fat dry food, and several canned varieties - that's more good news :)

I saw the same food at the pet store the other day. Oscar is currently eating Innova Evo and he LOVES it!!! It's the only food that i can put in his bowl and he eats it all up right away. His skin looks so much better to. And no more yucky eyes.
I think when the bag is empty I'm going to try the RM version.
I hope he does just as good with the red meat.

We just started Ranger and Molly on the Innova Evo last weekend after reading the dog food reviews. When I got home and opened the bag they couldn't wait for me to fill their bowl. Now that you mention it, their eyes do look alot better. Our Vet had always recommended Eukanuba, but after seeing how low it ranked it won't be going in their bowls again. There is only one store near us that carries it, I'll have to see if they carry the RM version and try it next.

I am transitioning from Wellness to Innova. I currently have a German Shepherd and my boxer will be arriving at the end of the year. Glad to hear that Innova is agreeing with other boxers

I agree. I've been a big proponent of these grainless kibbles. Unfortunately it's beef based, another common allergen. I'd like to see them make a formula based on venison, duck, lamb or a combination of those. The Innova folks are making a line of EVO canned called "95%" which are either duck, venison or rabbit, and they claim "contains 95% meat including bones, fat, cartilage and connective tissue for the true carnivore in every dog." I hope they turn out something equivalent in dry kibble.

Yes, it would be nice to see a further version that didn't have beef. But you know, since beef stopped being the most common ingredient in dog food (actually it was beef by-products  ), it's "star" as an allergen has been waning. It's actually a fairly rare component of dog foods these days.

Chicken, on the other hand, is everywhere. And so, the rise of chicken allergies is underway as dogs are being fed it constantly... So I'm thrilled to see at least one alternative, even if more would be nice.

LOL - impossible ;) Can't make kibble without at least 50% of it being made up of some form of starchy vegetable (or grain). It simply won't stick together without. For that wish, you'd have to accept something other than kibble (perhaps a dehydrated food along the lines of the Honest Kitchen's products... ;)).

Oh, I wasn't inferring that a "95%" kibble be made. I know that's impossible. I'm hoping for more grainless kibble options, with meat sources other than chicken/turkey, or beef. :)

Well, I think they're coming :) EVO was out there on it's own for two or three years, but now there are several of this "new generation" type around. Hopefully there will soon be more options in meat type also.

LOL - I wonder if we'll get to the point of looking back at the grain-based foods with the same wonder (that we ever fed them) and disgust as the old-style by-products based ones?

I bought Innova EVO today for my pup, hoping that a switch in his food will help with him with his diarrehea.....my pup, Clem, is the one with giardia....I'm fighting this tooth and nail, I'm trying to change his diet now....do you think it'll help? He was on California Natural for about 2 months.
