Actually, it isn't. Collie nose is thought by some to be an autoimmune disease, and by most to be hereditary. This is another case of the ABC promoting an incorrect idea without actually lying.
White Boxers, due to their lack of pigmentation, upon exposure to sunlight are prone to sunburn.

Collies who lack pigementation *of the nose* (which white Boxers do not - they have black noses), upon exposure to sunlight, are prone to ulcerated lesions on the nose. (This is not referring to the muzzle, but to the nose itself.)So yes, the conditions are similar - both are due to lack of pigmentation and both are induced by exposure to sunlight. They are also very dissimilar, since sunburn is not an autoimmune disease nor an hereditary one, and not all white Collies are prone to Collie nose.
