Back to higher dosage

I took Bayleigh into the vet yesterday for a blood draw. They called this morning and said her platelets have dropped below the normal range to 120,000. I have to double her prednisone. She will now take 10mg 2 times a day. I am hoping that this increase doesn't bring back the Cushing's symptoms. She had even gained a pound since the last weight check.

How long can she stay on pred? I know that they check her liver enzymes to make sure there is no damage so does that mean she can stay on pred indefinately as long as her liver is ok?

Austin stayed on pred for four months. My dog I had growing up was on it long term, also.
