If you could change one thing about the breed what would it be?

Other than the health problems and life span, I would change the shedding. Even though Junior doesn't shed much, its those tiny, fine hairs that you can't get out of your clothing or furniture!! Its all over! In the truck and even at my desk at work  ???

Sorry to be dense here, but what is Harlequin? A color?
Yes, harlequin is a color that produces a "cow-like" pattern of black and white. I, too, would LOVE to have a harliquin boxer. One of the biggest reasons I want a Dane is to get that color! ;)

Lifespan and heath issues!

And...while I can live with the flying drool and find the snoring amusing, some of Mag's "poots" are rather potent. We laugh at them, but when I have company over, it can be a bit embarrassing. Especially since the majority are "silent buy deadly" and when I tell guests it is the dog, they give me the "yeah, sure it is" look. I think I'll start blaming it on my bf.

As an aside, (apologizing in advance for threadjacking) but since you guys are on the subject of gas, I have to tell you, I once had a dog that would get up and leave indignantly if YOU passed gas whilie he was sleeping nearby...

I don't think I would change anything about them. I would just enjoy every minute and second with them for as long as I can. They are the best. :D

Completely Boxer Crazy
I guess if there's one thing I would change (aside from the health issues and life span), it would be the rate of dog aggression. I think it was one of the moderators recently who said that Boxers are a scrappy breed and I think that's a wonderful description. I *do* like the way a Boxer has that "Hey, what are you lookin' at?" attitude, but they do have a higher rate of dog aggression than some breeds. It's one of our biggest nightmares in rescue - trying to keep dogs separated is no fun.

Boxers don't live forever??????

My babies better live forever!

I agree....lifespan and the gas issue!

With regards to Claudia's agression issues....I think we need to change the humans that started with those rescued dogs! It is sad. I rescued a dog agressive female and I felt so helpless, but I feel certain it came about by how she was treated by her owners. Probably kept in a pen adjacent to other dogs but not allowed to socialize. (She was used as a breeder.)

Of course it would be wonderful if they had a longer life span but I could do with a little less jealousy. Molly would like to have all the attention or her 24/7.:D
