i remember drive-in movies - we don't have any around here anymore :(
i remember being able to camp in the front yard at a friends house (front yard was larger than the back yard) and not having to worry about "bad people"
i remember being able to ride your bikes anywhere without fear
and most importantly i remember when i fell in love with a boxer - oh wait that was only 3yrs ago but i think it still counts.

I also remember the family TV having knobs...with 3 kids in the house we took turns getting up to change the channel

I remember the designated time to be home was before the street lights turned on!

I remember hearing some of my favorite songs for the first time on the radio, not on the classic stations that are playing them now!

I also remember the first days of MTV complete with real videos & Vee-Jays!

I remember the days when you could get lost without being found if you were so inclined...no beepers, cell phones, etc!

I remember how great it felt to be a life guard...paying me to sit in the sun in a bathing scope out the cutest guys!

I remember thinking my parents were clueless and could not POSSIBLY have ever been young and felt the way I did!

I remember a first kiss being a huge deal...now it is so underrated, and sadly done way to young amongst other things.

I remember when we were all curling the hell out of our hair, nobody wanted straight hair!

I remember when if you dropeed hot coffe in your lap while driving it was YOUR fault!Judges had the right to refuse to hear frivilous lawsuits-heck lawyers had enough morals not to represent them-heck people had enough common sense not to even THINK about suing some one.
I remember when we played 45 & 33 record albums-pre 8 track tape...even had 78s
I remember HR Puffenstuff as a young teen and Felix the Cat before that.
I remember when Mannix was the hottest detective on tv.

lunch boxes had thermos' that always broke

you could buy candy for a penny

kids kept themselves entertained playing Monopoly (for days); hopskotch; Mother May I?; rollar skating with the old metal skates with keys; making forts; etc

we put angel hair on the Xmas tree

we wore Easter bonnets and often had to use a shoe button hooks

we had to wait 5 minutes for the black and white tv to warm up

milk got delivered by the milkman

you got your windshield cleaned and oil checked without asking everytime you got your gas pumped, and with trading stamps to boot. You also didn't have to pay for air

a quarter was big allowance

laundry detergent came with free glasses or dishes

Telephone numbers began with a word like Oriole 65614

Five and dimes had wooden floors with an ice cream counter

there was anti-communist paranoia and the frequent drills at school in case there was a nuclear attack (as if hiding under your desk and/or lining up against an inside wall would help)

you could take long hikes in the woods and you only worried about getting poison ivy and not getting snatched by a stranger
