I remember when....

i can remember wearing leg warmers over my spandex

when rabbit jackets where in style.

using pay phones because we didnt have cell phones

cigarettes machines in the supermarkets(and no one stopping you from using them when you were too young to buy them)

feathered earrings

feathered roach clips hanging from the rear view mirrors of cars

having an 8 track in my first car

when the drinking age was 18 and at 16 most of us looked 18 and didnt get checked

ok so I remember when it was so cool to get a perm.

And the bubble gum jeans
And you had to have an Abba t-shirt
What about the old beatle crusher shoes, you know the ones with the HUGE platforms. I used to always wear my brothers around the house.
I also remember teh old phones where you had to put your finger in the dial and turn it.

But then I also remember when it was ok for daddy to bath his little girl, or brothers to come into your bedroom.

I remember when we got our first air conditioner....of course it went in Mom & Dad's room
I remember getting excited to be the first to use the new empty jelly jar
I remember getting innoculations at school
I remember bomb drills..although it was long after WWII
I remember standing in the seat of the car and chewing on the padded dash board
I remember when a brand new car cost less than $1500 and trucks were driven by farmers and "workers" only..not to mention the 6 foot wide steering wheel
I remember the barbed wire around the field where GrandDaddy's bull was kept.
I remember selling lemonade(Not packaged stuff) by the roadside
I remember getting a prize if I got the speckled bubblegum ball from the machine
I remember using the out house at the lumber mill

I got to stay up past bedtime on Tuesday nights to watch The Red Skelton Show on a black & white T.V. and eat popcorn that was popped in a pan on the stove.

I could go anywhere in the neighborhood as long as I was home when the street lights came on.

Mama would pin curl my hair for class photos. :eek:

Playing in the pouring rain on a hot summer day.

Laying in the grass and watching the clouds roll by with no cares in the world.

Watching first runs of Bonanza & Gunsmoke. Oh yeah, The Ed Sullivan Show.

Saturday NIght Live first came on.

Girls couldn't wear slacks or jeans to school.

I could go on and on

I remember when your neighbors made sure you were behaving.
I remember when kids looked like kids.
I remember when you could get nickel candy!
I remember when you could walk to the store by yourself being a child & would be safe!

I remember Gillagins Island, The Partridge Family, Brady Bunch and Get Smart
I remember my heart being broken when Donny Osmond didn't answer my fan mail!
I remember socks with toes in them that were actually VERY cool
I remember womens sanitary pads coming with a belt... :eek:
I remember cloth diapers complete with safety pins and rubber pants
I remember talking on the phone in the closet (because that's how far the cord would stretch) for privacy!
I remember the silver pliers used to change the TV channels and hiding them on my brothers!
I remember making plans with friends BEFORE coming home from school and then just following through with them (nowadays kids get on the phone or MSN the second they get in the door and it takes them hours to finalize their plans!)!!
I remember Gramma babysitting us and using the wooden spoon on our butts when we misbehaved!
I remember the "Native Tops" with the beads and feathers hanging from the bottom and sleeves..and matching feathered earings of course!
I remember when sex was never talked about...and sex ed classes where the boys and girls were separated and the teacher was dorky and embarrassed!
I remember that BELT Dad had hanging on the door in the kitchen! A few butts in our house was introduced to that belt...not mine though... I was Daddy's little girl! :D
I remember my mom watching Search For Tomorrow and The Young and The Restless...and being a little ticked because The Flinstones were on at the same time!
I remember Dad breeding Cocker Spaniels out of a homemade kennel in the backyard and people buying the pups for $50! I remember Dad docking the tails himself and I held a rag on the tail of one little pup that I was allowed to keep...named him Scoots and he was euthanized at the age of 7 because of spinal cancer. I remember climbing the big oak tree beside our house and refusing to come down because I was heartbroken over the loss of my precious Scoots! Dad had to leave for work on the night shift and I was still in the tree. I remember being forced out of that tree at 2am because of a stupid spider! :rolleyes:

Ok..showing way too much of my age! That's enough remembering!! :o

Yup! Same grade for me too. I was sent home one day for wearing pants after my Mom made me wear them to "make a statement"-and she was a teacher. I think fifth grade pants were widely accepted.
Oh-and your neighbors had the authority to MAKE you behave.
