I feel as if I am dying. My heart has an ache that I just dont know if it will ever go away. Our boxer is 12 and just 4 short days ago we found out he was going into heart failure. This has all happened so fast. He just got home this afternoon from the vet keeping him 2 nights. He is just not the same as he was 4 nights ago. We are waiting to hear from the cardiologist on Monday. I am not so sure there is anything that can be done. He looks so sad. We have decided to wait until Monday or Tuesday to see if he is just stressed from being at the vet. If things do not improve somehow I will find it in my heart to let go and help him to the bridge. I am so scared to let go. I am so scared my heart will ache like this forever. Does it ever go away???

My heart goes out to you. Our Rocky had cancer and lived against all odds for over a year and I know the pain you are feeling. It's like someone is ripping out your heart. The night before we let our Rocky go I prayed to God to give me the strength to do what I knew need to be done. I talked to Rocky and told him it was ok to go and cryed all night. I called the vet and we took him in and stayed with him until he was gone. The only thing I can say is God did give me the stength because today I still don't know how I let him go. That was on Feb 2 and not a day goes by that I don't think of him, talk about him and I still cry. We just got a new girl named Adrian...we're calling her Addy. Our home was to empty and we just didn't think we could live without a boxer's love. She is opposite of Rocky but keep us busy. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Boxerworld helped me get thru a very difficult year. I am here if you need me

I wish that I could tell you that it does go away but sadly it doesn't. It does get so that you can think of them without crying but the ache is always there. I will say a prayer for you and your baby that the week brings good news. ((((((((((((healing vibes )))))))))))))))))) to your baby.

I really started to feel like this afternoon I was a nutcase! I have cried for three days straight. This pain is like something I have never felt before. I am so scared and completley shattered. I have had a few people say "its just a dog" ... but hes not. He is my best friend, my security, my heart....hes so much more. I am scared to death to go to work Monday. I am so scared something will happen when I am not here. I am so distraute over this I am even thinking about quiting my job to be here with him. I can't even think that before we make a decision if something were to happen and
I not be here. I feel so helpless and I know in my heart we are at the end and there is not much hope. Is this normal to feel this way or I am dealing with this just way to hard? I am so overwhelmed and just helpless. I am 30 years old and I am actually praying for a magic pill to make this all go away. I am devestated and have never felt such an ache in my heart before. I appreciate the kind words and support so much.

Hello, I'm so very sorry you are going through this.
We lost our beloved Morrissey last April, he had always been so healthy before he got sick a few months before, that I never thought of losing him, even though he was 11 years old. to see him suffer was awful and the sparkle had gone from his eyes.
I too felt like I was absolutely dying inside, I remember screaming, the pain was so terrible I could hardly function.
I have to tell myself, he was 11, he had a long, healthy and happy life and he is okay, that's what got me through it all, and the wonderful people on this site helped me so much.
I don't think the ache goes away but as time goes by, it gets easier to talk about them. Sending you many hugs and lot's of kisses to your boy, take care.

Reilly, 12 months, adopted Jan 2007,
Morrissey, our angel

loved forever x

Unfortunately it doesn't go away. But with time and good friends, esp those here at BW, it doesn't hurt so much. Love him and be with him. And when he looks at you a certain way, you will know when it is time. Hold him and love him. Let him feel your love and your arms around him as he goes to the bridge. Know that you did your best for him. And try to picture him happy and healthy and running free at the bridge. He will always be in your heart and waiting for you.

I am so very sorry for the pain that you are going through right now. Even though your precious boy has been with you for many years, the time is surely never enough. The love that you have for him, the love that you have both shared over the years will guide you, and always be a part of you. I send thoughts of comfort to you and your boy.
