It always hurts when they are taken away especially taken away early. I have a terrible hate for cancer and I rejoice for the day the cure is found for too many lives both 2 legged and 4 legged are lost.

Tribute to your boy, may thoughts of his happy times bring you peace!

It is too cruel to lose them young. My heart goes out to you. Somehow you will find a way to go on, but truly you're never quite the same as before they went. I wish you many happy, pain-free memories of Jake.

Thanks for the nice reply. Looks like you lost your Wilson last year at a young age, also. Sorry you went through losing him.

Sorry I missed your reply

Boxermomof4 - So sorry I missed your reply til today. Yes, my little Jake was only 5 months with severe SAS when I had to take him to the vet to help him across the bridge. Not a day goes by that I don't still miss him. But I've always loved boxers, they have a special way of weaving into our hearts. I just learned that I am again going to be the proud mom of a female brindle boxer I've been waiting for. I couldn't bear the thoughts of trying to "replace" my Jake, but I couldn't imagine life without a precious boxer. I hope that as time is passing, slowly, healing is weaving it's way into your heart as well. I imagine both of our Jakes having the time of their new life at the bridge while they wait patiently. Be well friend.

What is SAS? My brain is not registering on this.

Oh, how sweet a new boxer. I love the brindles. Is it a puppy that you are getting?

There was a fire in a animal shelter about 35 mi from my home. I am fostering a cute boxer boy from there. He is just so sweet. No where near as sweet and beautiful as my Jake. He needs some tender loving care so he is getting it here. He has heart worms and will start treatments maybe this week. He has a rough way to go for a while.

He only has one problem. He pees his crate if I have to go somewhere. He has never been in it more that 2 hrs. I am working with him, leaving bones and peanut butter kong in his crate. this morning he did not pee the crate. Hopefully we can kick that bad habit. Time will tell.

Well, enjoy your new boxer girl. Jake would want you share your love with her and he will know that you will always love and miss him. Let me know how it goes with her.

Thanks so much for your kind words. It's really not been that long since you went through it with Tuff E. Nuff so you definitely can relate to the loss of my sweet boy.

I have a white boxer also and so does my son. I noticed you pretty white boxer on your avatar.

I hope Jake, Tuff E. Nuff and all the other boxers are playing at the Bridge having a good time. Poor Jake suffered so much he deserves a pain free, good time there.

As you probably read in a previous comment, I am fostering a boxer as of last week that a local rescue has. He is so sweet, but I feel really guilty about loving him. I know Jake isn't coming back and he was the best. I hope he would want me to give this guy some of the TLC that I gave him.

Take care and thanks again.

Boxermomof4 - I am so glad to hear that you have found the strength to foster another boxer baby! I know just how hard that guilty feeling can be, but I have a feeling that both of our Jakes are looking down from the bridge saying "way to go mom!" "I'm still with you." "I'm so proud of you", that is if they could speak to us. I don't believe that we ever "replace" one with another, rather we open our wounded hearts to continue to pour out the love that has always been there. It just takes lots of time. I know that my Jake will always hold the most precious place in my heart and I hope to meet him some day again at the bridge! It comforts me to think of him playing and making so many friends until that day! BTW SAS is sub-aortic stenosis (bad heart murmur). Jake had a grade 5 out of 6. We knew early on that he wouldn't see his first birthday, so we just celebrated every morning as a birthday! :) I'm grateful for your willingness to open your home and your heart to another baby in need. I wish you well in all ways with your new foster! Be well friend.

Thank you so much for your comforting words. This is a rough week as it marks the one month mark without our Jake.

I am so glad that your Jake had wonderful parents like you to stuff so much loving into his short life. While he was here, he had Heaven on earth.

I noticed that your are from KY. I am from IL. I am wondering what part of KY you are from.

Take care and have a great day.
