I'm so sorry to hear that you lost Bogey. It's so sweet that she gave you one last kiss before she went to the Bridge. She's okay now and she is in good company there. When you're feeling a little bit better you should share some of your memories of her. I would love to hear about her. My thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time.

Hugs,
Kim

It's been five days since our house got quiet. I have had time to think about all of the great times we shared, the laughs and the furrowed brows. The jingling of the collar no longer announces her arrival in the room. Her service is this Friday, my realtives probably think I'm crazy for having one, but Bogey always enjoyed a gathering. No one ever got to roam our house until she sniffed them and they allowed her to give them one big sloppy boxer kiss on the cheek. Once they were initiated, they could roam the house without her as their shadow. Chicken treats and my son's bed were her favorites(she thought his bed was her's, except when the sun went down and even then it could be a tussle).
I am no longer angry for her passing. I am thinking more of the fun and great times we shared together. I thank each of you for helping us through this hard time in our lives. In the near future, there will be another Boxer in our lives.

You've made a very hard transition and that is wonderful. Im having a little harder time doing that myself. Im still in a very sad place and Im so angry at myself for not being able to move forward. I feel as though everyone has moved on but me......and that makes me a little angry. Any helpful words of advice on how to move forward???? Thanks :)

"Even in her last breath, she extended her tongue to give me one more kiss before crossing the bridge."

I am near tears now - our Mya did the same thing. Always the maternal one, I have no doubt that she was there to greet Bogey. Godspeed sweet angelicon Bogey

Luv, I will never get over losing her, and I do not want to. My anger has turned to the thoughts of how fortunate I am for getting to expierience the wonderful years we shared with our Bogey. My Bogey would not want to see me sad. Even if I had a slight frown on my face, she would find a way to make it go away. We got her ashes back yesterday and I cried even harder than the day she left this world. And I pray that I will always feel that way about her. She was our first Boxer. We learned more from her than we could have ever tought her ourselves. I am a better person, a better husband, and a better father because of Bogey. Maybe my sadness is getting better. Maybe my tears are further apart. She would want it that way. I am writing down my thoughts in a memoir everyday. It makes me feel better thinking about all of the great times, and funny antics I was blessed to have been witness to. My rationale for wanting to get another angel so soon is simple. My son, who is 4, missed out on her puppy years and I would not want him to miss another day without a Boxer in our household. And I do not want to spend another day without the pitter patter of small feet around my house. Bogey loved puppies and she would want us to be happy. I would give my left arm to spend one more day with her, but that isn't going to happen. She watches over me everyday and always will. I think my smile would make her much happier than this frown I've had for 7 days now. As for your loss, grieve as long as you need to, it's healthy and no one can tell you when to stop. You will know when you are on the road to recovery. It may take awhile, but it will happen. Those thoughts of anger and dispair will turn to happy joyous thoughts. Remember you have a place to share your thoughts and emotions anytime, she can always hear you. Good luck to you and Godspeen our angels!!!

I am sorry for your loss, and I don't think your crazy for a service. She was a family member too. I agree with you about writing a memoir, it does help with the grieving process. I can't say that I know what you are experienceing but I hope that it does get better for you and lafs.

Bogey's daddy..... hope you have a wonderful service for Bogey tomorrow. I'm so glad you can think of the funny things she used to do.

luvmrhead...Please don't be hard on your self, as Bogey's daddy says, grieve as long as you need to, it's different for everyone and there's no "right" amount of time. I still cry for Morrissey, we lost him in April, I saw his favorite Yellow Jingle ball yesterday and broke down, but I can also laugh about the funny things he used to do now too. I picture all our babies having a ball together and not wanting us to be sad. Take care, Kate.

I know how you are feeling right now. I thought I was doing ok, but the last couple of days I'm missing my Capone terribly. He just left us on 1/12/07 due to brain cancer. I too have written down all his funny and quirky things he used to do. It helps to smile when I think of those times....I know your Bogey is playing with Capone right now...And you are right..they would not want to see us being sad.

It's been two weeks since you had to leave us and it hasn't gotten that much better. We miss you so much!! Your ashes are home with us in a special place. I just want to come home one more day and see your wagging nub there to greet us. You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten!!
