I have been wanting to post about my decision to rehome Angel, It is something I have been thinking of for a while. I am struggling to cope with 3 boxers and am moving into a flat which is a lot smaller than the house we live in now. Having 3 is proving to be too much for me as I manage all their care alone, it is also stretching me too far financially..

I have emailed Angels breeder where her sire is in hampshire, explaining my situation. The lady has agreed to have her, she has 4 boxers and lots of land. We spoke on the phone tonight for an hour, she was very kind and said that as Angel is bred from her boxers she would be happy to take her. We spoke about Luka who is also the son of her male boxer, along with lots of things regarding Angels care. She said that she will send me pics of her and let me know how she is.

She is coming next friday to pick her up, the 9th of febuary. I asked that she come as soon as she could as obviously it is very sad for all of us. It is all my fault for thinking I could cope with 3, I feel extremely sad but feel that I have found her the best home I could and that Angel will be well cared for.

I just wanted to let you all know.

I think you are being very hard on youself. Your heart was in the right place but now your circumstances have changed and you need to make this difficult decision. You have made the best possible arrangements for Angel-going back to the breeder is usually the best of all situations when it comes to rehoming. I can only imagine how difficult this is for you and will think good thoughts for you. You need to stop beating yourself up-you and Angel will be okay-best of luck to you.

My heart sank when I saw the post with your name on in the forum Louise and I secretly hoped it was because you'd replied to the post and not posted it.
It must have been such a hard decision for you to make and there for the grace of god go I to be honest as I could have had a third Dh said a while back and as much as I wanted to I knew I'd not cope.
You know that you are doing the right thing, you are doing this for Angel and I'm sure that you didn't come to this decision lightly. You will miss her, that goes without saying but at least you can get updates on her and photo's.

(((hugs))) to you

I'm so sorry Louise. I know how hard it is to make that decision. Sometimes as responsible pet owners we need to make decisions we may not want to make. Angel is going to a great place. It is nice that you will be able to keep in touch. I'll be thinking of you on the 9th. Aude

Re reading my post it seems matter of fact but this has been a terrible decision to make. I have cried, I keep wanting to hold Angel and tell her I'm sorry. I know the lady will love her and I just hope she will be happy. I feel she is going to her 'family' which is the next best thing for her.

Sorry to hear the news of Angel. Sometimes it's better to rehome, than maybe not and driving your self in oblivion. I had gotten a Boxer mix Molly back in Aug. 06, We we're overwhelmed also, and I called the lady from the Boxer rescue and let her know I need to find Molly a new home. I told her I would call her back, I was crying and couldn't finish my conversation. It must've been a sign, I found her a wonderful home with a bachelor who wanted nothing more than a lap/housedog. Molly was #1 in that field. She is happily living in a house with a fenced yard and doggie door. So Angel is going to have a good life still, and don't feel down about it, it will get easier knowing they went to just as good a home.

Oh Louise Im so sorry to hear of this. I understand your feeling of being overwhelmed as i feel that way sometimes too. You are doing the right thing for Angel. What better person to rehome her with than her breeder. I will be thinking of you, stay strong. We are all here for you.

I can imagine how you have agonized over making the decision to rehome Angel, and my heart goes out to you. In your sadness, please know that you are giving Angel the gift of your love, you are thinking of her welfare first. And I think it's wonderful that Angel will be with her breeder. Please don't be hard on yourself. You are a very giving caring person.

It didn't seem matter of fact at all. I sensed your anguish while reading it. It takes an awfully big person with a lot of heart to admit it when something gets to be too much. I admire your courage. I know how much you care for all three of them and this must be very difficult for you. Angel will be fine and I'm sure you know that. I'm sorry you have to go through this but keep your chin up...you're doing the right thing.

Hugs,
Kim
