Ok so we sprung for the DYSON DC-14 Loaded.. Anywho.. I love how it picked up what my other did not.. that was amazing.. BUT I have a ? for those who also have the Dyson.. when vacuuming my bedroom the machine started making this extremely LOUD Noise as if something was wrong with it.. I emptied out the bin which was nowhere near full at that time. And it was still doing it randomly.. I noticed at one time that it did it when the front of the machine was pushed down by a rug that was rolled up.. So I thought maybe too much pressure? the brush spins freely and there are no clogs...

just curious as to see if any of you know what it was or if I was doing something wrong? Being we spent quite a bit of money I do not want to have to be disappointed with this thing... :(

no don't worry. were you sweeping a rug? i know we have hard woodfloors, i use mine to sweep my rug. and it makes a god awful noise. i lift it up, and sweep again, until i hear it again, basically i keep doing this, b/c the turn brush is moving okay. so i too was freaking out, so i called my brother who has carpet and ask if i can bring my sweeper over and sweep his carpet. who is going to turn down someone sweeping your carpet? and the vacuum did great. no noise nothing. so i took it back home, again i had the sound. so i called mom, and swept her carpet. did great again.

so i came to the conclusion, when vacuuming my rug, since it is not nailed down like carpet it must be sucking so hard that it's picking the rug too. i don't know. but i pamper the sweeper, and put up with the sound to an extent, b/c i believe a little bit of raquet is worth the clean rug. plus we are getting ready to get carpet, i hate that i have to give up my hardwood floors, but dh wants somewhere he can play with the baby, who can blame him.

Noise

it is the gear in the vacumn that slips so you will not burn up the belt, if it does it all the time, then there might be an issue. We have one and love it.

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. My Dyson did it the first time I used it. I called the Dyson number and they guided me into taking a small shoelace like string off the bottom somewhere. I don't exactly remember because it was about a year ago. However, mine still makes that God awful noise which actually sets my glass breaks on my alarm off. They said it was due to all the suction on a thick rug. It really is a pain!

I have the Dyson as well and mine does that on my area rugs. Make sure you switch from the bare floor setting to the carpet setting.

Mine does it as well. Freaks me out a little every time it happens.
My old non-Dyson was loud only becasue it was dying a slow death. Cami never had a problem with it. Now with the Dyson if I even head towards the room that it is kept in Cami runs to the back door. She hates that thing.....and the terrible noise it makes. Wish we could figure out how to make it stop!

I think the Dyson's actually sucking up some of the rug. I turn mine off and pull the rug out of the brush and it starts up again fine.

I have pretty much come to that conclusion as well.. I was vaccuming an area rug on a rug. LOL!! AND the carpeting we DO have in this house is all remnants so none of them are secured to the floor! LOL!! My son's room does not do it! TG as his is the one I am Constantly vaccumming.. *for someone who NEVER eats in his room there sure is alot of crumbs!*

Thanks for letting me know I am not breaking my new toy!! :)
