To me they have to know that there is a ton of paperwork going to one particular area....how could they not know???
Sure they know. The have an entire committee to work on Commercial Breeder issues. But what would you have them do? It's not illegal to have a large-scale dog breeding operation. More commercial kennels are inspected by the AKC than private kennels. As long as they're meeting the standards of care, is it really the AKC's responsibility to say how many litters are too many? Is there a magic number? Some people that everyone here would consider responsible have the facilities and abilities to raise 3-4 litters per year - others cannot properly raise 1 per year. Where do you draw the line?
Logically if she was able to get the AKC to cancel their ability to register pups wouldn't that put them out of business possibly? This is my theory because they are selling the pups on the basis that they are "AKC" registered. People thinking that this is a determining factor when purchasing a pup would then not consider purchasing from them.
Doubt it. They'd just go to the ConKC or some other puppymill registry, and still sell "registered" dogs (CKC or AKA are ones that often confuse people). The people who believe that AKC = quality are also going to believe that these other registries are "just as good" as AKC, because they haven't done any research to know any differently. :(
