How to keep furniture clean?

My Bruno just turned a year old last month and as much as I love him I am having a terrible time keeping the furniture clean. I try and put blankets over everything and he either pulls them off (much fun) or finds some uncovered place to drool on...I need to replace the furniture but I am dreading getting something new. How do other boxer people do it? He doesn't even get on the furniture much but he's big enough to just lean up against something and leave his mark! I thought of leather but worry that he will scratch it up...any ideas anyone? Mari

I have leather furniture and it works great, and you can wipe it off...I havent had any issues yet and have had the leather couch/loveseat for over 3 years...most of the time they would rather lay on the rug now because the leather can be cold you know...LOL but no scratches as yet..I guess it would depend on how tough of leather it had..

Mine can only go on the furniture in the TV room, not allowed on the "good" stuff :). I use blankets on the ones they can go on and every year or so just replace the cushion covers -I buy cheap ones knowing they will not last long. Good luck

We don't have leather furniture but were thinking about getting it just to make it easier to keep clean. I'm glad to hear that it seems to stand up.
Other than that, we just clean up the slobber as it comes. Nothing more you can do. It's part of owning a dog.

Leather furniture is great..just wipe and it's done..I think it's impossible to escape drool..it will find you where ever you go..

we have leather also before that we had a suede like fabric which was stain gaurded and cleaned great but ripped easy which led us to the new stuff. we put comforters on the couches and it cleans great if it gets dirty. but as im sure we all learned when you have animals or kids there really isnt anything that stays clean :)

We bought a microfiber sectional at Christmas time last year and I love it!! So far we have no stains and pet hair vacuums up with no problem.

We don't let SuzyQ on the furniture, so I can't help in the scratching department. We have leather furniture and for cleaning it's great. I know that she has swiped the bottom of the couch and love seat with a paw while rough housing and the leather is pretty tough, no scratches or anything. She lays her head on the upholstered seats on my dining room chairs, so we have the drool on that. Actually if you let it dry and just wipe it off with a damp cloth, it comes off pretty easy. I just figure that I will be living with drool spots on my furniture and myself forever. (Oh to wear white jeans)

We have leather furniture in the family room - love it, durable, easy clean up, works great.
Micro Fiber in the living room. Cleans up easily

LOL - We also got leather furniture after we had Lou for 6 months. You could probably do a poll on how many boxer owners switched to leather to combat drool-so funny!

We still have psudo-suede microfiber in the other room and this does clean up and stand up pretty well. It is still alot scrubbing for when people come over. Lou has adopted the microfiber as his, due to the fact that somebody mentioned earlier-leather can be cold for them.
