I have seen a few threads but I would appreciate any experienced folks advice on how to clean my girls paws. They are pink and a little raw and the 50/50 apple cider vinegar seemed to really sting, also they didnt like it in their food or water really... but am pretty sure its yeast. Also ones chin is getting affected.
They are on grain free hiqh quality dog foods, but I cant afford raw food diet at the moment. I give them yogurt and acidophilus but not helping yet, not sure of good dosages? And has anyone tried ACV tablets? I couldnt find capsules, and dont know a good dosage either. They are about 50 lbs. I try to dry their feet, but its pretty wet here, and I let them out the back sometimes and cant seem to keep up every time. Thanks for all advice from great folks here on this forum!

Get some Betadine at the drugstore (CVS sells their own, slightly cheaper brand) and mix it with water in a plastic container or tub so that it looks like iced tea, deep enough to cover the dog's whole foot. Betadine has antibacterial and antifungal properties, and it's more soothing than ACV. Below, I've posted some directional links for you.

Coconut oil in their food :) It helped my min pin and my niece also gives it to her dog. I give my boxers 3 tsps/meal just because it a good healthy oil for them along with their salmon oil. They love it. Get a big jug at Costco for $20.00

I actually make little coconut oil "balls" and place in fridge for treats for Nico. Also great for giving pills. He loves it to pieces. I tried to use it first as a moisturizer for his irritated skin, and he just licked it off! :)

When Lacy got yeast between her toes (back paw) and she licked and bit at her toes we had to take her to vet. He gave us an antibiotic that she had to have for 1 month. Vet said to be checking between toes frequently and if there is snow or rain to dry between their toes. Yeast like damp, places and between toes is a perfect yeast growing area.

yeasty feet

My puppy has some mild allergies and recently this manifested in yeast infections under two of her toe nails. I was a bit frantic the day I took her in so just went with the antibiotics prescribed. I don't know why I didn't think of the go to yeast killer I've used on Maggie's face folds... Oreganol P73 is a strain of wild oregano that has amazing anti bacterial and anti viral properties. I mix this with coconut oil for Maggie's folds. I've had really good success treating yeast infections in ears with zymox enzymatic solution and see that they also have a topical, so I've just ordered some of that too as I don't want to get into the cycle of prescribing a/b's. I've heard the natural vinegar is good, but couldn't imagine getting my crazy puppy to sit still for me to keep the wrap on her.

I give the oregano & coconut oils orally, I just add it to their food and mix in. Once I started this my minpin's paws cleared up and (touch wood) there has been no return. My niece recently started using it and Ryder's paws have cleared up too, now if she could just get the ear infections cleared life would be good :)
