since I'm coming from Ottawa, and am not much of a cooker/baker, maybe I could bring a 24 of pop or something easy. That also works for me because there would be no room for anything on the floor unless it can be stepped on by doggy feet! In the trunk it would just ice over and be ruined. I am all for the pizza and wings (drool) but you're right, it is more expensive, and students like me can't really afford all that much. I'm going on for broke just to pay for the gas and hotel!

I'm definitly all for pizza (mmm) and wings LoL but to tell you the truth I don't mind it either way. Even though it would be much easier not to travel with food... LoL, I'm not sure if it would get there in one piece. Max is a pretty hungry boy.

We can get some chips and some pop, plus some cookies. Something that isn't too much of a hassle to put in a car.

Ok well how's this:
I can get those travelling to bring these kind of things:
case of pop, case of water, juice, chips, pretzels, one of those trays with the nuts, rice crispy squares are always well received and easy to make, they also travel well, brownies do too, cupcakes travel well and are fine if they get cold, cookies. I can get those of us local to bring stuff that may be a bit harder to transport. I will make up some homemade chicken soup.. always good on a chilly day :), perhaps some meatballs (which can be bought frozen and a jar of sauce and thrown into a crockpot for an hour or 2 when we first get there), sandwiches are quick and easy to make (tuna salad, cold cuts, egg salad, etc.), cold salads are a good idea too like potato salad, coleslaw, bean salad, etc (you can cheat and buy them from the grocery store and they would travel well too), crackers with pate and cheese (although that can get expensive) but perhaps an assortment of crackers would be nice with some cheese, a fruit plate, a veggie plate, pumpernickel bread and spinach dip (travels well), nanimo bars (sp? travel good also), perhaps chilli (men like chilli... and it can be put in a tupperware container and thrown into a crock pot to warm up), a pie for a desert would be nice, to make it easier someone could bring some pre-cut buns and some cold cuts, someone could bring the condiments and toppings (this was done at a wedding I went to, it made life so easy, some other ideas would be great! I can let someone else bring the plates and cups, and utensils and napkins if thats easier?

Please keep me posted!

I am local and don't work during January and February and My husband will drive me to the event so I'm not worried about weather or carrying anything so I am volunteering to bring whatever is needed. Molly will sit on my lap and I have an SUV so have plenty of room. So if somehting needs to be cooked baked or whatever let me know and I am in no problems

Costs, etc.

Ok I FINALLY got a quote back for a price (which includes insurance for the facilities, use of the dog area and reception area, as well as cleaning supplies. She told me $450 + gst which is $481.50 total. Now my dilemma is that I do not know how to work this in terms of a door fee to cover that cost, should I go per dog? in which case $481.50/14 = 34.40 per dog, or we could go per person which is $481.50/21 = 22.92 each

Here is my list of who is attending and the first number is the cost if calculating by cost per person, the second is cost per dog: majority will rule how this will be decided.

abby's mum - 2 people, 1 dog (I know maybe not attending so I will not include in final count)

Tysonsway -2 people, 2 dogs (costs: $45.84, $68.80)
Nemeia - 3 people, 1 dog ($68.76, $34.40) this is a no brainer :)
lquenne - 1 person, 1 dog ($22.92, $34.40) this one too :)
letty - 2 people, 1 dog ($45.84, $34.40) need I say more?!
Daisys_rjm - 2 people, 1 dog ($45.84, $34.40)
Comet_Hailey - 4 people, 3 dogs ($91.68, $103.20)
Brittain - 2 people, 2 dogs ($45.84, $68.80)
Baxtersmum - 2 people, 1 dog ($45.84, $34.40)
pinkpuppy - 1 person, 1 dog ($22.92, $34.40)
myself - 2 people, 1 dog ($45.84, $34.40)

That gives us a grand total of 21 people and 14 dogs, how do we want to do this? is this going to restrict our numbers? Is anyone not able to attend due to cost?
Our other option is to split the cost evenly 10 users 481.50/10= $48.15 per user which works out cheaper for some and slightly more for others. Please let me know which option you would like:
a)per dog
b)per person
c)per user

Majority will rule I personally think to make it even for everyone that asking for just under $50 cdn is pretty fair. But please let me know :)

Also for everyones info the owner will be there to watch and help manage the dogs (her policy), also I am inquiring about simplifying this whole thing.. perhaps if I can bring a BBQ? The main course would be complete with some burgers (frozen), hotdogs/sausages, chicken (pre-cooked) then it would just be bringing condiments, buns and some other munchies/deserts. I have to find out if bringing a BBQ is ok with her which I should hear soon. Please let me know if this would be easier.

I spoke with the owner of the facility (Delightful Dogs) and I have a meeting with her monday night to discuss all the details. I figured everyone will want to pay per user since it is equal then for everyone.

I did ask about the BBQ and she said it is fine if we want to bbq in january. I figure its less hassle and less mess to clean up. Someone could bring a box of frozen burgers, or some hot dogs, buns, I can bring some chicken, someone would need to bring pop, chips, other munchies and all the plates cutlery etc.

ps I got an interview for MY DREAM JOB its tomorrow at 10 wish me luck. I want this soooooooo bad, its a large animal technician position at the University of Guelph :) wish me luck I NEED IT (the job that is!) :P
