3 adults and 1 furbaby so far... I will contact my neighbours, and ask them if they would like to attend. I'm not sure if they will since skinkids are not allowed and they all have them. Either way I'll ask.

I'll contact CTV and ask them if they would be willing to help or donate. If you need any other help, I'm here in TO and have tons of free time :) I'd be more than happy to do it.

No booze is even better LoL :) After all half these people have to drive back home, and you know our laws and drunk driving ;)

depending on the date we'll be two people and one dog.
is this a boxer only event? what about anyone who has a boxer and another type of dog?
in the meantime if anyone just wants to meet at the park count me in!
I'm planning on getting over to Bechtel this Saturday, probably late morning 11am or so

Things are going well, I am waiting to hear from Boxer Rescue's fundraising/event co-ordinator. My main issues has been the insurance thing so far. I could use some help with getting special event insurance or even some info on it. So if anyone in Ontario could look into that and let me know, that would be a help.

So the count so far is 17 people and 12 dogs maybe to make my life easier everyone could pm me with numbers and if you are interested in helping your email address and your name so I can contact you easier.

So far I am going to try to run this with the idea that Boxer Rescue will be involved, I will also come up with a back up plan in the event that they back out.

I will look into making arrangements for some people food and drinks (Hubby used to work for Zehrs Grocery store.. we will see what he can do for us for drink or food donation :) boxer owners + long boxer day = we will need some food and drink :)

Is everyone interested in doing either a silent auction or a raffle? I can look into that also.

Tysonsway: perhaps you could look into what it entails to get furbabies over the border? That way everything is clear and there is no confusion about people getting denied entry. Thanks

Again if anyone has insurance expertise and wants to help research high risk event insurance we need 2 million in liability + waivers. Let me know what you come up with. If anyone has any leads on some raffle items let me know that too!

Perhaps we can (those of us locally) get together and tour the facilities, and get together for a planning session. We could make an afternoon of it, I could arrange to look at a few places and we could get together and tour them together?

let me know what works for everyone.

Thanks,
Colly

Thanks for letting me get involved in this! I did some research on getting furbabies across the border, It looks pretty straight forward

Dogs may enter Canada if accompanied by a valid rabies vaccination certificate issued, in either English or French, by a licensed veterinarian, which clearly identifies the dogs and shows that they are currently vaccinated against rabies. This certificate should identify the animal, as in breed, colour, weight, etc., plus indicate the name of the licensed rabies vaccine used (trade name), serial number and duration of validity (up to three years). Please note that if a validity date does not appear on the certificate, then it will be considered a one-year vaccine.

If you do not have the rabies certificate, an inspector will order the owner to have the animals vaccinated for rabies and to provide the vaccination certificate to an inspector, all at the owner's expense.
Special purpose dogs:
Assistance dogs that are certified as a guide, hearing or other service dog are not subject to any restrictions for importation where the person importing the dog is the user of the dog and accompanies the dog to Canada

Unfortunetly I dont have any experiance with event insurance, I'll ask around though.

I think the raffle or silent auction sounds like a good idea, I know I would participate!!

TYSONSMOMMA, I'll pm you my number and personal email incase you need to get in contact with those who are interested.

Good Job on all the coordinating!! Keep up the good work, let me know if you need anything else from this side!

Just found this thread!!! Haven't been on here in over a year, since I went to WATERLOO for University, and so would love to head back. If I came it would be one or two adults, one dog, unless I can bring my GSD puppy who plays like a boxer!! (learned from her big sister.) I live in Ottawa, and so it will be a bit of an effort to work on getting a vehicle to get me there, but if I can, I will. Also, if there is anyone else from ottawa definitely going, maybe I could hitch a ride? Keep me in the loop!!
PS: SHANZ!!! If I can go up in my own car then you could have a drive up with me! You would just need a hotel room, because I would probably stay overnight at either a hotel or at my friend's house. Either way, it would most likely be an overnighter I would think. (5 hours each way, NOT in one day!)
PM me to tell me what you think.

Insurance

What are the specifictions for the insurance? I have had event insurance before and would like to know a little bit more on the details to see if I can find out some more info.
I would assume and I think I have read that there must be two million liability.
Please let me know

I'm putting together an e-mail to CTV and a pamplet thingy about the bash for my neighbours and anyone who's interested. I'm not puting in a date or the fee since we haven't come up with that one yet. If anyone would like to add something, you know how to find me :)
