Ok I am tallying numbers up and I have made contact with a smaller facility that has insurance already and we are going to organize it as a "birthday party" type event (the do weddings too!) I will hopefully hear back from her today/early tomorrow. I am enquiring about December 11th, there will be a door fee and waivers will have to be signed. Dog aggressive dogs should not be attending for insurance reasons. I will be meeting with the owner of the facility this week at somepoint (to be determined soon, I requested it in my last email to her)

I will post as soon as I have a reply, with how much it will cost, and maybe we can all bring some refreshments/food this time around. I will also bring my digital camera and take pictures of the facilities for everyone.) she sounds very reasonable so I can't for see any problems.

I will let you know everything when I find out!

Update on numbers

Ok please verify this so I can be sure I am counting right or if anyone hasn't let me know and wants to join:

Comet_Hailey - 3 dogs, 4 people
Daisys_rjm - 1 dog, 1 person
Tysonsway - 2 dogs, 2 people
Nemia - 1 dog, 2 people
Baxtersmum - 1 dog, 2 people
abby's mum - 1 dog, 2 people
lquenne - 1 dog, 2 people
Brittain - 1 dog, 1 person
TYS0NSM0MMA - 2 dogs, 2 people
(if they aren't still being aggressive that is :( )

Have I forgotten anyone? Are there any additions? the total so far is
13 dogs and 19 people
which is a nice number of people.

Just another thought (ONLY IF WE ALL WANT TO) we could do a small gift exchange? Everyone bring one small either a) boxer related item or we could each purchase a small dog toy or treat for the dogs (eg. for each family if you have one dog bring one toy/treat, if you have 2 dogs bring 2 toys/treats, and they could be wrapped and we could all exchange so if you have 2 dogs you get 2 gifts if you have one dog you get one gift. OR B) we could each bring a dog supply (good quality leash, collar, dishes, toys, etc) and donate it to Boxer Rescue or the Humane Society for christmas?

To recap, let me know if:
1) there are changes or additions to your numbers
2) if I missed you on the list
3) if December 11 is ok
4) if we want to each bring food/drink to all share
5) if we want to do a gift exchange for either the dogs or the owners :)
6) or a supply drive for boxer rescue/humane society

thanks,
Colly
(and no I havent heard back yet from delightful dogs ;) )

I guess I should be reading more closely: what a fantastic idea! I can't believe that I didn't notice this thread before... I'm such a dork!

Please count us in (1 & 1): Chloe would love it.

We'll be coming from Toronto: so hopefully there is not a tone of snow by December... :D

Hi All,
Thanks for trying the 11th, I'm excited I'll be able to come! Colly, there might be a little flux in our attending number... We were recently approved as foster parents for Second Chance Boxer Rescue and since we are going to be out of town for Thanksgiving and the weekend after they are stating that we will recieve our first dog the weekend of the 11th... If it turns out the dog is too distressed and not trust worthy then my husband will be staying home with it and the attendees with be Jasmine and myself. If the dog is trust worthy and pleasant (and has a rabies vaccine) there will be 2 dogs, two people...

As for the other details:
December 11th works great for us... I think doing a fund/supply drive for the rescue group is the best way to go. I know for one that my dogs are going to be spoiled by their own family, and that I will be spoiled as well... But think of all these dogs in rescues that dont have that luxury... making a contirbution will help some boxer have a very merry christmas!!! JMHO, but the majority will rule.

Lastly, I am willing to make lots of goodies for the get together... If required I will make up a "needs" list and people can sign up to bring certain items! Let me know, I'll start thinking of ideas.

I'm so excited and hope this works out!!!

I agree that doing a fund/supply drive is a great idea. I know my Molly will have lots of gifts, so it would be nice for perhaps some shelter/rescue pooches to get a little gift.

I think that bring somethig for the rescue is a great idea also, and the 11th works for us. Thanks for all the hard work :)

So I should be meeting with the owner of delightful dogs, which is a smaller location than Wag'n'train however numbers should be just enough for this facility to work for us this time around. Also if we use this facility her insurance will cover it (waivers will still need to be signed) here is the link if anyone wants to check it out. (also has a map on the site). She has been very helpful in answering all my questions and keeps the facilities very clean. She steam cleans very frequently. I will be talking with her tomorrow and I can let everyone know how much it will be for the rental. The Comfort Inn Hotel is fairly close by and allows dogs and I think is quite reasonable.

She would like the event to be closer to 2pm which I thought would be great to allow people to travel in Saturday morning, camp out Saturday night at a hotel or make their own arrangements to return Sunday. She is unavailable in the morning that day. So I hope that 2:00 pm is ok. Also here is the

Now in terms of yummies for us "parents" do we want more snacks or more like a potluck? I can supply the plates, napkins, utensils and cups. Someone will need to supply drinks (pop, water, juice) and then we all need to decide if it is going to be snacks or more lunchy/dinnery-type stuff.

Let me know :)

Hi Everyone,
Everything sounds great. 2pm would be a good time since I know I have a 3 hour drive and I know others have even longer!
For the dinner/snacks discision... Does delightful dogs have ample room/accomodations for a dinner style meal? I would probably be bringing a crockpot, would they allow this or have room for it? If you dont think they would then I would vote for snacks (cheese & crackers, Cookies, Brownies, Chips, veggies and dip, ect.). I will offer to bring pop, juice and bottled water... I will also make a few dessert style dishes (I'm a sucker for sweets!!).

Now for room accomodations... Would anyone be interested in sharing a room with me? I dont think my husband is going to make it and depending on the length of the meet-up I dont want to travel back across the border in the dark (specially if the weather is bad). Question: How long is the meet-up expected to last? If its going to last a while, I'll just go ahead and make a reservation, but if its expected to end early then maybe I'll wait and see how I feel that night.

Sorry for all the "possible" questions... It will all work out, we just need to keep in touch! I'm so excited to meet all of you and know its going to be a GREAT time!!!!

Let us know what you think of the facility Colly, and give us an idea of costs. Good Job on the coordinating!!
