We only had one boxer that actually swallow whole pieces of clothing. Dutch used to swallow whatever she could get in her mouth, it was scarey, in her case it wasn't from lack of attention or anything like that, I was home all the time and we also had Duke. The vet we used to go to was stumped so he just told me that some dogs do this and hide anything she could swallow. Well that was fine until she started eating the bottom of the curtains or bedspread and sometimes would go in the bathroom and snag a towel(while we were home)

This went on until she got a pair of long underwear( I was doing laundry and sorting) and chewed off the entire leg and swallowed it, that day we were really scared and called the emergency clinic, they had us give her Hydrogen peroxide and bring her in. She brought it up all in one piece, the vet said she would have probably died if it had gotten as far as her intestine and wrapped around. We told him of all the other times she had done this(she was 5yrs old at this time). He told me it may be something she is deficiant in and was craving, and like a pregnant woman that eats weird stuff (like Dirt) it was probably something called
pica. He suggested we go to a better food and give her vitamin suppliments for a while to see if it would help. It seemed to help she seemed to stop within a month. I don't know if he was right or it was just
"she finally grew up" but it did seem to help and we never had a problem again except with an occasional piece of a stuffed toy(ear, foot, tail)coming out in the backyard but nothing big. We now go to that vet for everything.
