My boyfriend and I always laugh that if we got a nickle everytime we heard:"... oh, it's a boxer?? I never saw a white one before..." we'd be rich.
Don't let others spoil your introduction to boxerhood. Good luck and congrats!

Although I haven't taken home my future Boxer pup yet, I know I will be getting a few remarks from people, both good and bad. I used to get it all the time with my Rottie so I know how all of you feel. Huge beautiful male he was. Things like, "man, those are viscous dogs" or " are you gonna breed him?" or "I would never get a dog that is known to attack people". My usual response to them is, "I can train a Pug to kill if you if I really wanted to". I know certain breeds have more characteristics of protection, etc. etc. but just because I have a large bred dog doesn't mean he or she is viscious. It is the owner's fault for an improperly trained dog. For those who have larger breed of dogs (Rotts, Boxers, Mastiffs, etc.), it is our responsibility to properly train them because they sure don't know their own strength and can do damage if not trained, left alone or provoked. Just my opinion.

Barkley is our first boxer and all we have heard from people when they meet him is oh my god he is gorgeous. Is he a boxer? I didn't know they were so nice. I would say as you get your baby out to meet everyone, they will change their minds. Good luck and enjoy your baby. They are the greatest.:)

The missconceptions of this wonderful dog just gets my goat. Last summer we had the spca called on us for having 7 pit bulls and we live in a area where pibulls are not allowed, the guys came and was prepaired to take my babies without even knocking on my door, luckly i was out on the tractor on my way to the house for lunch and asked what he thought he was doing on my property not to mention the fact trying to catch my 8 month old baby boy rocky, he said he was here to take my annimals that we had laws in this county about these horrible dogs, I said WHAT!!!!! A boxer and his reply these are not boxers and accused me of having a fighting ring in one of my barns on friday nights.... well friday nights the biys play their cards out there but thats about it i said, I said these are my babies and further more being you are here to confinscate my animals shouldnt you be educated on what breed is what.. he was dumbfounded by my question and needless to say ticked at my bitchiness... But heck he was trying to take my babies. well I ended up allowing him to load the dogs but not to leave till the cops came.. The cop turned out to be a boxer owner and boy oh boy was he pi****... Well that fella no longer has his job I made sure of that,:D

a dog is only as great as his owner is the trouble and the sad truth is that most folks who own pit bulls these days own them for all the wrong reasons you know.

It's easy to get offended at others lack of good sense or knowledge, but also remember that the better you can intelligently field questions about this wonderful breed, the more that people are willing to actually listen to what you have to say about them.

Very well said :)
If we can use these instances as a way to educate, well then that can only be a positive for the breed.
