i just underwent my first attempt at IVF a week and a half ago, we only got 3 eggs but they all fertilised and we had 2 put back last Tuesday, unfortunately i have just found out neither took and i am devasted as is my hubby. i am feeling like a failure because i can't give him the kids he and i so desparately want.

i was just wondering if anyone on here had been through IVF treatments or knew people who had and how many attempts did it take for it to work, i know that it is unusual for it to work first go but we were so hopeful

i just needed to post this today because i am feeling so down and i guess in a way it may help me cope with failing the first round to talk about it. i am ringing the clinic again today so we can start round 2, by no means are we giving up just because of one failure we both want kids so much and have always wanted them, having kids shouldn't be this hard.

First off, don't feel like a failure. This procedure doesn't always take the first time & your doctor should have told you that. It can be a painful & stressful period(waiting) but please don't feel down & hang in there. When it finally does happen you will forget all about being down! Just stay positive & strong, & I will be praying for you! :lovicon:

the doctor's did tell me that, they have been great and very supportive i guess we just wanted it so badly and were so hopeful that it would work for us i know in the next few days my mood will change back to ok it didn't work that time maybe the next.

we'll take all the prays we can at the moment, i have said quite a few myself in the last few weeks

I had a friend who did it several times and a friend who got pregnant on the first try. They implanted four eggs and she ended up with twins. Try not to stress too much about it, just relax and let the dr's do their job. I know it's easier said than done.

My cousin and his wife have been through it several times after experiencing a few miscarriages. I will tell you that they are now the proud parents of 7 children, including a set of quadruplets!! It did take them more than once each time to get pregnant, but it did eventually work. Try not to get discouraged-that little soul is waiting for the right time to come into this world. I am wishing you lots of luck!!

My best freind tried for 8 yrs. before she gave birth to a healthy baby boy. My daughter went thru everything including 3 rounds of IVF. She finally gave up and 2 monthes later was pregnant. Now she has a beautiful 8 month old baby boy. So do not give up it is all worth it in the end.

I am sure that you are in pain. It's kinda like a death in the family. Don't give up hope because that's all you have at this point.
Keep an open mind and don't let yourself get all worked up about it, I know easier said than done. I finally said enough and put it into God's hands. I figured if I was meant to have a baby I would have one. I didn't go thru the IVF because I couldn't afford it. You're fortunate that you can.
Good Luck with all you are going thru.

ps...I did finally get my baby and I cherish every day with him.
sorry to ramble, but this is a topic that is very dear to me.

Don't give up and don't stress about it. I am sure the stress doesn't help your body and probably only makes things harder. It has to be hard not to be stressed out but try your hardest. Just don't get stressed about being stressed...if that makes any sense. Hang in there, everything will happen at the right time and in the end the wait will be worth it! Good luck!

Good luck and don't stress! I know that is easier said than done but I believe that lowering stress can help you conceive..... :)

thanks for the replies guys, i haven't given up i was just very disappointed and i do feel it will happen, my problem is i'm getting older and the older i get the harder it is (i'll be 38 in August) not old in age really just harder to conceive, i spoke to the clinic today and have another appointment to see where we go from here and they said probably have a month off mainly for the emotional side of things but my doctor may say it's fine to go back to back. i think if we wait the month we may have a little holiday before trying again - maybe go up north to visit BIL and relax in the sun and just go swimming etc atleast that way i will be nice and relaxed before round 2.

thanks again guys sometimes it helps to just put it in writing to someone, i can atleast love on my 2 boxer babies - i'm so glad i have them when i was bawling yesterday morning they were very destressed with me, i have never had so many kisses from them. Tigger sort of freaked out at me sobbing away and neither he or brandy have left my side for the last 48 hours and cuddle up next to me i just love those little babies.
