I spoke to the vet she told me she still hasn't checked the lakota she will today. She told me his spleen has a irregularity to it, it could be a tumor but it is not enlarged. That she is not too concerned about his stool and that the chicken and rice we are giving him has lots of moisture so thats why he is not drinking as much. She checked him out yesterday and said he was not in pain anywhere the screaming is out of fear(I think he might have been a little abused before we adopted him) She needs to see what his red blood cells are like on Monday to make anymore decisions. If this is a tumor on his spleen can she remove it and take the tumor? She told me she will not remove unless she has too.

I have just been reading some threads about spleens and have found out if this is a hermagiosarcoma then Harley will die, both dogs had their spleens removed and died within 6 months. I really hope this isn't what Harley has.

I found out last month that Fletcher may have BCM. I won't know for sure until we see the cardiologist later this month. I got loads of support from the wonderful people on here and one of the things I was told is that Fletcher can sense my moods and especially when I'm upset or distraught because we are so close and my getting so upset wasn't good for him. I'm sure that you and Harley are just as close. I know how hard it is to stay calm but you have to try for his sake. I will continue to pray for you and him that this is not the case and that there is a simple fix to his symptoms. You have lots of friends and support on here anytime you need to talk.

If he is diagnosed with hermagiosarcoma I was thinking is it worth to take out the spleen? I noticed that one of the dogs lived 5 weeks and the other lived 3 months when given the diagnosis of 6 months. If taking the spleen out only gives him a few more weeks is it worth putting a dog thru surgery? Is the cancer going to spread quicker if he has surgery? or will they take the cancer and spleen and he will be fine. He is perking up a bit today!!!

Each dog is individual. *IF* it is cancer you need to weigh all options and do what you think is best. Many dogs are given limited time to live and prove the vets wrong. We have a member here whose boxer was diagnosed with bone cancer and given a couple of months to live....that was over a year ago and Rocky is still with us. Don't give up!

I hope Harley is doing better today. It is so frustrating not to have all the answers right away, plus all the worry that comes with not knowing. My heart goes out to you. It sounds like your vet is covering all the bases, and it's good that you can keep Harley at home - he is better off where he can get his familly's TLC and where he can be watched more closely. Many positive, hopeful and healing thoughts going out to your sweet boy, you and your family. Keep your chin up for Harley.
