Definately demand a refund and don't let them fix it as they havent' been able to the last few times. Let us know what happens next. And if they give you a hard time make sure you go in with hair down showing everyone else what has happened.
It's one thing to have a mess up, but an apology is in order and the fact that no one else can fix it isn't right.

I once did a home dye job (tried Auburn) and my blonde hair turned bright pink! I sympathize with you.

Been there, done that & bought the t-shirt.

I have naturally dark blonde hair, I got highlights and then tried a home colour of black, I went purple, I mean Prince Purple. I was about 16 at the time so it was sort of cool but having to go to church with my mum on the sunday was not so good.

Full refund is in order here. Is she the boss, if not speak to the manager or owner.
You would maybe need a decolourisation, where all the colour is stripped from your hair and then colour it again.

Good luck.

Cosmotologists are licensed by state boards. You can report them to the state board.... A threat to call them is a big incentive for the salon to fix your hair.

How did the situation resolve? Do you still have purple hair? Did you get your money back?

Thanks for asking!!!!

Yes, I did get my money back. My hair is now a dark brown with a little bit of red in it. Not what I paid for to begin with, but it will do for now. I don't want any more chemicals in my hair for a real long time.

I just hate starting over :( I didn't know you could report them, it's a really nice thing to know :) THANKS!!

I wish I had spotted this thread sooner!
I have been a hair designer for nearly 23 years.
The State Board of Cosmetology does not take "complaints" regarding hair services, meaning they are not the "hair police". Rather they police the salons...making sure they comply with specific regulations concerning sanitation and sterilization.
You won't be putting a mark on anyone's license. The board would probably more so refer you to The Better Business Bureau or another similar entity.

That being said.....
Drop this designer (and salon) TODAY. There is no way in hell that any designer worth their weight would EVER send home a client with hair that looked like you described.
Mistakes happen, it's a fact of life. Companies change chemical formulations without telling, bottles get mis-labeled, products go bad, etc....but no matter the reason, you should have never been allowed to leave the salon in that condition. If it took 48 hours to correct, it should have been offerred.

What you are faced with literally is someone who either made a mistake ( a seasoned pro does this only a few times in their career EVER). A mistake is different than an accident. A mistake is picking up a bottle of 20 volume peroxide when you meant to pick up 40 volume. This "mistake" is easily corrected *IF* one knows what they are doing. An accident is when you meant to only lighten the hair 2 levels and mis-judged product calculations and pretty much screwed up by lightening the hair 8 levels!! Still fixable but since this person didn't know to do the job correctly the first time.....having them make an attempt at correcting THEIR own "accident" should be a road you (the client) travels down if you have no other options.

This person screwed your hair up and let you walk out the door. You call to inquire about a correction and you end up with someone else who spends 9 hours trying to correct the problem, and doesn't. Two strikes right there. The original girl comes back and works on you and you still leave with something that you didn't originally sign up for?

Stylist A doesn't know what she is doing.
Stylist B doesn't either
OWNER or manager (if owner doesn't do hair) is a moron and couldn't care less about their reputation. They couldn't or these people wouldn't be working there.

There are so many products on the market today that make achieving ANY color on ANY head of hair possible with minimal damage. The hard part is finding the person that knows what to use and when to use it.

ANY mistake is correctable in under 5 hours and at that I am talking about multiple processes. This also means leaving the hair in managable condition and not fried or ready for amputation.

I'd suggest you (or anyone) find a salon that has independent contractors working there. These are people who are totally self-employed. They have to have a well established, SATISFIED clientele that keeps them in business. They have to pay booth rent, their own taxes, buy all of their equipement and supplies PLUS earn eough money after that to pay their own bills and survive. These are people that KNOW hair and all that it entails, inside & out. **Of course not all but you get my point.

I am so sorry that this happened to you. It happens more often than one might realize. In my 23 years I have only had a handful of people complain, (nicely) and it was always and will always be about their hair not being BLONDE enough! I have made people stay in my chair when I have not been happy with the results and they are beaming with delight about their new "DO". They are my walking billboard and I want perfection not only for them but for everyone that will look at their hair.

Sorry I got so long winded but this just hit close to home!!! If & when this might happen to anyone else make sure to ask WHAT happened. Base your decision on whether to return based on their response. If they say, "I don't know what happened", RUN FORREST RUN.

Again, a pro will TELL you that something isn't right and usually before you even notice it.

Thank you for taking the time to explain, I wish my hairdresser would have done that to begin with. Instead she pretended if she didn't say it out-loud that I would never notice it :(

Susi do you do house calls?????

Sure! I could use a vacation!!
Actually I started a new business venture just over a year ago and don't get to the salon as much as I used to.
I only do hair part time now, about 2 days a week, 4-6 hours at a stretch.
I am happy to say that my pet sitting business is prospering and I am loving every minute of it. :)
After so many years of dealing with humans it was time to stop TALKING so much and start playing with critters.
Life is good.
