Sometimes I think it's harder to know the end is near than when it happens suddenly without warning. I don't know anything about chemotherapy, but you could maybe try it and see how he reacts to it? Also, my grandmother had cancer when she was 89. Her doctor gave her chemo designed to enhance her quality of life rather than cure it. It allowed her to have almost two more years with 1 1/2 years of being able to go out and do things. Maybe they have that option for dogs?

I am so sorry to read your news of Gus and his diagnosis. Your heart, your intuition and the knowledge that you have about his condition, will guide you to make the decision that will be best for your baby. He is a beautiful boy, and the love you share is very obvious - I went to your gallery and wonderful website. My heart goes out to you, along with positive thoughts of hope, healing and peace.

I am so sorry to hear this. I lost Quincy last Aug to a brain tumor. He was given chemo and lived 11 mos - 9 more than predicted.

So sorry about Gus. The cancer monster is horrible. Our Rocky had bone cancer and the vet gave him 6 to 8 weeks if we didn't amputate his leg and do chemo. We chose to not do anything and just spoil and love him but to let him go when we could see the signs and to everyones amazment Rocky was with us for a year and one month before we let him go. Everyone said it was all the love we gave him. These boxer babies come into our lives and take with them a piece of our hearts when they leave. Someone on here told me that dogs are not like humans in the fact that they do not fear death and that for some reason gave me much comfort. Rocky slept by my side until the end. He knew he was loved and yes we miss him so. We have a new boxer baby but she will never take his place but helps ease the pain. I'm always here if you need me....prayers to you and your family. Reading your post takes me back and now I am crying...Take care.

So sorry to hear about Gus.
No matter what decision you make, it won't be wrong because you obviously love him and as his mama you will know what is best.
If you decide to not do the treatment, just love on him and savor every moment you have left. You are in our prayers.
