Hey there, green roof girl here....

It's too dark tonight but tomorrow, I will get a picture of my house with one of my dogs in front of it to make it "legal" to post.
green shingles with cream color house with green shutters, shutters are wood with beautiful painted flowers on them. They actually really look nice.
That may be an idea! If I paint something on my shutters, it would take away from my roof.

....lets see....what could I put on them.....I know! My husband picked out this ugly green roof!!!

I think you should use this as an excuse to pick the color of every new car you buy as long as that roof is on the house.
Trust me I'm already thinking of ways I can pay my darling husband back for this one...

Okay, about the yellow house idea--
There is something else you should know about my husband. He collects John Deere Tractor stuff. Try not to laugh to hard, I don't want anyone getting hurt. So, my point being, he would actually like the whole yellow house, green trim idea. Uh, NO! :)

  Okay so that explains the green roof!!!! Oh my! Oh gosh for sure do not further humor him by painting the house yellow!! BTW have I got some John Deere stuff for him. My hubby used to work for a subsidiary of John Deere and every Christmas or any holiday he would get little John Deere Trinkets from the company! I would LOVE to get rid of them ;)

Well he got the John Deere Roof! You love Boxers so how about painting some boxers on your shutters :D

You are a genius, Jean!! That is a fantastic idea!! I think I'll do that! :D

Are you serious about getting rid of them? As much as I despise this little John Deere fetish of his, that would be pretty neat. He has a whole bedroom in our house dedicated to the life and times of the John Deere tractor. I actually got pictures of me and my daughter done on a John Deere tractor for him for Christmas a couple of years ago. He says it's the best thing I ever got him. He's such a goober.

Like I said I would LOVE to get rid of them, but alas hubby sees them as memoirs of days gone by (he no longer works for the company) however, should the day come I will keep you in mind ;)

Can't wait to see the picture! IF you cud put your house on the computer and use one of those programs to change colors etc that would help. We did that with our kitchen, we got a program to see what it would look like with diff colors , cupboards etc. Good LUck

MY father put green frosted shinlges on their house many moons ago. He the nturned around about 3 years a go and replace them with the same thing. Luckily, their house is a 2 story farm house that sits up on a hill so you really can't see them. We finaly talked him into doing the addition, garage, and carport in gray....much better. They always had white house with white trim. Know that doesn't help much, but your not the only one with a green roof!

Wow, I did check out the picture. It is astroturf green. I like green but not on a roof. I definately agree with you. I wish I could tell you what color to paint the house, but I really don't know. I read the bit about John Deere, now that explains everything.

Just curious - how did your hubby manage to sneak this one by you? Where you visiting someone out of town for a couple of days? Before the roofers come don't you get sample shingles to choose from? Nevermind, those questions won't help now :D I'd see if you could get some professional advice from someone who does a GOOD job housepainting - maybe something in the taupe or grayish color group. But before you use someone, ask for some addresses of houses they have painted to make sure they don't have Barney-colored, red and green, or other similar color combinations. I feel your pain.
