Tonight I got done with work late and had a glass of wine to relax. About 7pm I realised I had not fed the dogs!!! I checked the cupboard and discovered we were out of dog food! I NEVER drink and drive, even after one drink, so OH CRUD what to do? I boiled some rice and cut up the london broil steak I had been planning to have for dinner (along with some carrots) and cooked the steak, rice, and carrots, and fed it to the dogs. Scrappy and Katie were happy with this meal. What do other members do when you run out of dog food?

I actually have never run out of dog food (people food is a different story), but I bet that your pups were more then happy that you forgot! London broil and rice and carrots, they are probably hoping you forget more often!!

Not a bad Mom at all, I'm sure they loved thier dinner!!!!!! When we were feeding all kibble, luckily for us thier are two feed stores within minutes of my house. If they were closed, I'd done the same thing you did.....feed them what was supposed to be my dinner

You are not a bad mom... Your babies eat better then I did lastnight :) If anything Skrappy & Katie might not want you to get a new bag of food

We actually have done, and do, the same thing! There have been nights where the DH and I are eating Ramen noodles and the dogs are eating boiled chicken and rice or steak and veggies. We joke that we will starve before the dogs do because they eat so well....and are so stinkin' spoiled!

I have never completely run out of food but on the couple of occasions that I haven't had quite enough for them my boys have eaten an array of green beans, carrots, hot dogs (I know, gross) and whatever else I could dig out of the fridge or cabinets :)

awww. Sounds a lot like my aunt and her boxer. She has to work a lot and her husband is a truck driver, so when she occasionally runs out of dog food, she will often take the part that she would have fed my auncle and give it to her boxer, Chopper. You are a very good mummy and don't let what you did make you feel bad. I bet they liked it. :)
