I prefer Maya, too. That's just personal preference, though. I'm sure she will grow into either name.

(Is Maya cat in Japanese? I thought it was neko.)

Ziba

I prefer Ziba over Maya; however, they are both very pretty names. I don't think Ziba is a prissy name at all. I am Persian myself and I really like the name Ziba for a pet because its very unique and different. I doubt you will find any other dog with the name of Ziba at the dog park.

I had decided to go with Ziba, but then I got a male Boxer instead. I had to start from scratch. At the end, I decided to go with Dante. Thanks again for the input! You can see Dante's picture in my gallery. He's not here yet, 1 more week!
