Exotic names..

Hi all. I’m picking up my female, semi flash fawn boxer not too long from now. I’ve come down to two names…

Ziba = “beauty” in Farsi (Persian)
Maya = mother, pearl, and cat in Japanese…

Most of my friends prefer Ziba, but my sister hates the name Ziba as she says it sounds prissy. I can go either way. Give me your honest opinion… Also if you have any names to suggest, feel free!

Umm. I'd go with Maya. It has a certain dignity

Ziba sounds more like the sort of name you might expect from a guy in drag telling fortunes over a crystal ball :eek:

I have a friend who is named "Ziba;" (Zee-bah) she is Persian and a very nice lady, so I like that name, but Maya is also good. There is also "Farrah" if you can mentally remove the connection to Farrah Fawcett.

I like Ziba, as well--it's different. I'm probably a bit biased, though, b/c I used to be friendly with a couple Persian guys and I learned a lot about culture in Iran. One of them told me his ex-wife had a horse named Ziba! I say the more original, the better.

i like maya! it also could represent the mayan culture, which i am biased about cuz i went to central america this summer :D. its really an awesome culture though, and the name just sounds so regal and different. i like ziba too, but like i said I'm biased!

My preference is Maya too! Ziba just, I don't know - I can't imagine standing in a dog park yelling Ziba come... Good luck and can't wait to see some pics of your girl.

Id have to say Ziba sounds better when you call it out. Maya is also nice.
