Well I finally went to go look at the pup I was hoping to bring home. A white female. I was just going to meet her but wasn't planning on taking her for 2 more weeks. Instead I was convinced to buy a white male, because the female was very timid. I was also somehow convinced to take him home right then. My fault of course. What I'm writing about though is the dishonest breeder. I realized this morning that both of his testicles are undescended at 3 months. I absolutely prefer to wait 18 months to neuter a male, but waiting would be unsafe for the dog, risking testicular torsion. I'm less worried about cancer but if he got torsion while I was at work he may not survive. This was suppose to be a reputable breeder, charging $1500 for a brindle, $600 for a white. Of course you use a reputable breeder to avoid health problems but this poor little guy has come with a big one already. I should have looked for this yesterday but expected a reputable breeder to disclose something like this. No wonder she was pushing for the male to go. I'm pretty upset and am stopping payment on the check I gave her. I wanted to get some opinions though. How would everyone else proceed? Any cost savings from buying a white pup is effectively negated by the increased cost of the neuter also.
