Does your Boxer swim?

My haylee loves the water. We live in South Beach Florida so we have plenty of water!!
At first she used to sink but now I can't get her out.

She also loves me to spray her with the hose. She'll lay under the water she's so fuuny. She even tries to get under the spray of water when I'm bathing Sunshine.


I wonder if anyones dogs ever stick their heads under the water.
Haylee will stick her head under the water and tries to get the rocks out of the water. It's so funny.

Quinn will stick her head under water to get fish and sticks, or whatever else is under her at her feet. But when she comes up she usually has to take a break, then goes right back in. It's so funny, i guess growing up with an english setter of the same age and going hunting and exploring with him makes a difference in how much she likes the water, she follows him anywhere.

My SUGAR can't swim at all! The first week I got her, we were out at my pond and she just fell right in and made no attempt to swim at all. I was scared to death. I told the people at Puppy Daycare the next day and they informed me that most Boxers don't swim. I haven't had her back around the pond again without her leash on, but this week, we were out there and I was feeding the fish and SUGAR walked right off the rocks and fell in head first.

this message is for Sugars mommy. Don't be dicourraged the first time I put Haylee in a pool she sunk like a rock. So after that when it was very hot I would take her to the jetty by my house wher she can play in the shallow water. Slowly she would go deeper and deeper. Finally one day I threw a dried coconut in the water and away she went so determined to get it and she did. It was a great momemt. Then of course she came and brought to me and shook off the water all over me.

Sugar will swim, its instinct don't give up!

Mahlon loves to swim, but he's a bit of a sinker! I bought him a life jacket, and it has made a world of difference. He will now go in water over his head without a problem, he especially loves to swim with me off the back of the boat!

My cousins boxer is a sinker as well..... the first time Arrie went charging and jumped into the water and then he juts sank.. al they saw was bubbles so my unkle jumped in the water to save poor arrie.. but as soon as Arries feet touched ground he ran right back in and jumped in.. yes u guessed it he sank again.. so he got retreived and put on a leash.... no more swimming for Arrie .

Boxxy does not swim, now don't get me wrong, he loves water, as long as he can touch the ground, otherwise he just sinks, once he was by my sisters pool and he fell in, he didn't even try to swim, he just sunk, I jumped in after him, cost me a pair of shoes, a pack of cigarettes, a cell phone and to top it all off, when I got him out, he went strait to my truck and laid down, he seemed fine, so we didn't go to the vet, I was stunned he didn't even try, it was like dead weight in the water...weird, I think:confused:

I think my Sammi is part fish! She jumped in the pool last summer, splashed for a few minutes and tehn just started gliding through the water! Now we can't go in the pool without her, or she gets VERY vocal about it! Gotta love her, she's amazing!

I posted earlier that Hammer sinks like a stone! But his new sister Ginger (we adopted her today) wasn't in the backyard ten minutes today and she leaped into the pool!! It was a bit unexpected since it's a little cool here, but she swam like a fish to the edge so we could pull her out!

So now we have one that sinks and one that swims!!! :rolleyes:

We live in cyprus and have an outdoor swimming pool. Our boxer, Sandy walks down the steps to cool down in the summer and whenever the kids are in the pool, she joins them for a swim.
